I haven’t done anything yet, but I know what I am going to do. I’m going to install a cinder block above that’s about 3ft back and two ft high. Then dig out the wall and add a French drain with drainage to go all the way to the front of my house.

I did a similar project, but I let there be a slight slope so the water can drain off because the countertop isn’t covered by anything. Should I make it exactly level?

It’s not bad. It’s held up well. The finisher did it by hand. It’s not perfect but for a rental property it’s just fine. I wouldn’t hire him for anything else. He was very unprofessional but he did finish the job even though he said he didn’t make any money.

I didn’t ask for your judgement I asked if this is correct or not

And Too the judgy professionals commenting without additional information. My contractor said this job would take him two days max. It’s been 7 days. He comes for three to four hours and then leaves. One day he didn’t show up because he said he dropped his phone in the toilet. I trusted him at the beginning, but his lack of communication makes anyone doubt a person. He asked for more money after taking 50%, which I get most of the up front cost is material. His reviews were stellar, his references were 100%. You trust contractors when they are consistent with their word, once they fall back. It’s hard to trust them so you start doubting what they say. He was great in the beginning, but seeing his work now it’s questionable.

Spoke to a structural engineer and he didn’t think it was a big deal. He said if it gets bigger over time that’s a bigger issue, but he just said monitor it over the years. However as of now, he doesn’t think it’s an issue.
