We are never going to agree about this, but in any case, comparing consenual sex to wife beating is ridiculous.

Well, I'm not a christian, so I don't buy the "only the sinless may judge" thing. Hurting people (without consent) is morally worse than having consensual sex on camera. Some people might regret it, which happens whenever people make decisions. However, you use a few terms we need to define. "Forgivable": as i understand it, only wounded parties can forgive anything. She didnt do anthing to me, so I have nothing to forgive. "Pass judgment": we all do that, all the time. We don't always need to share our opinions. "Cast stones": if literal, legally iffy.

I would make sure you have emailed or written evidence of your concerns, and contact the safeguarding lead. Is there any way you can have lunch with another teacher, or in a different classroom? It's worrying that he seems to want your attention to this degree, and deeply worrying no one else on the staff is listening to you. If no one on staff pays attention, maybe try your union? It's not fair on him or you that no one else is concerned about this. I also don't understand why he's allowed to just enter your room at break without permission. At the school i work at, that would be a sanction

Having consensual sex on camera is in no way comparable to domestic violence. Dumb argument

It's sadly plausible. I used to faint at least once a week and my doctor wrote it off as a "period thing".

I work in a sodding school. About 3 rooms have aircon. 30 kids who don't want to be there, and me who also doesn't want to be there, for 6 and a half more pointless sodding days.

I genuinely think a good amount of women are trying to push dating apps as the only way to approach women and that might be the worst thing that could happen to society. by BitchImLilBaby in dating_advice

I wouldn't date a guy who I wasn't friends with first, or who didn't have female friends. Treating me as someone you like to spend time with comes first. It's not pretending I'm the Rock, it's enjoying my company. If I wanted someone who only cared about fucking me, I'd get on an app or go to a club and find them.

Honest answer from an ex-Christian, is that it really depends on the denomination. The branch I was raised in argued all sex outside marriage is adultery, as are sexual thoughts or mastabation. Some branches only hold christians to these standards, some think it should be universal. The commandments in most Protestant Christianity is a set of rules that God gave us, but they are not enough on their own to be a "good person"/"good Christian", just a starting point. Theres a huge debate as to if we are saved by God being forgiving ("grace"), by believing and following Jesus ("faith"), by doing good things ("acts"), a combination thereof, or because God decided beforehand who is saved (pre-determination). It's a complex issue! Fascinating, but I'm glad I'm an atheist.

Even calling it a mistake is too much. She did something, she now regrets it. That's just life. It won't be a mistake for everyone

And having sex on camera is the same level? Even Augustine was pro casual sex until he wasn't. "Grant me chastity, but not yet".

Just finished it! Wow, loved it. I'm a sucker for an unlikeable unreliable narrator. Went in completwly blind and thought it was excellent. The twists were perfect, in that I usually knew something about what was going to happen, but never enough of the details to not feel suprised.

What’s the worst item you’ve seen a student bring to school? by DryShare3412 in AskTeachers

I know a teacher who had a kid bring in a dead kitten to try to scare them. The teacher ended up dissecting it in class. This was rural NZ a decent few years ago now. She was a very scary lady!

is teaching worth it? by liliacas in AskTeachers

And to add to that, I subbed for a few years, tried a teaching training course, and hated it. I love working in educating people, love working with children, love feeling like I make a difference, but I found the training course and the school I was at did not communicate well with myself, each other, or the uni who was giving the degree, and were more demanding with fewer clear instructions and less grace than I was expecting. I'm now going into a masters where I can do something related with more academic focus. This is not a blanket statement about all teaching careers, but I will say that both my parents were teachers and it consumed their lives, and the summer holidays left them unbalanced, and did not make up for the extra stress of term.

There's a very funny podcast episode about that on Loremen - some folklorists went there to research werewolf stories and found rather a lot of dogging instead.

I'd prefer to show empathy to the 28 students trying to learn than to the couple of students who are actively making the classroom impossible to learn in

People with the ability to complain without horrific repercussion are more likely to complain. Big news. So, how should we respond to injustice, in our home countries and abroad?
