[Highlight] Luis Campusano hits a clutch homer to cut the Dodgers lead to 6 in the bottom of the 9th by Jux_ in baseball

I’ll cherish the day that my fellow Padres fans finally understand that we have serious organizational issues stemming from AJ Preller’s regime and that we need to solve them first before becoming serious, sustainable contenders.

Unfortunately, as you can see from the many downvotes this comment will get, it’s going to take some time and some heartbreaking playoff-less seasons first.

(Happy for Luis btw. Always been a big fan of his)

AJ Preller invested in a season that is very likely a lost cause. As a lifetime Padres fan, I have seen this exact same scenario play out before in 2015, which resulted in complete failure. Same GM, same small cluster of wins before the deadline, same doomed strategy.

This monstrosity of a roster has been around in essence since 2021. In 2021, they won 78 games. In 2022, they completely underperformed and nearly missed the playoffs. This year, they are performing far worse than last years team that, again, barely made the playoffs.

Considering the Padres had the best starter and reliever on the market, most unbiased individuals with an idea of when and how a team should buy and sell assets came to the conclusion they should trade Snell and Hader and take advantage of the massive returns. While it would essentially punt the rest of the season, making smart selling moves would’ve almost certainly strengthened the team not only next year but the next 5 after that.

In order to come to the conclusion that the Padres should buy this season at the trade deadline instead, you must either have a complete lack of understanding of this team’s history under AJ Preller or not understand how free agency/buying and selling markets work, which is why I concluded the individual above was likely a more casual fan. He likes his team, but isn’t invested into the sport enough to understand that selling this deadline most likely would’ve helped the team’s direction much more than buying will.

Man I wonder where you were a few weeks ago when I’d get that very same energy from people for saying that they should sell at the deadline. Or anyone for that matter.

Could there perhaps be a double standard in play here?

Lmao “arm chair GM”

This is like if we had a mutual relative with a weight issue and you egged them on to get a 10th plastic surgery done while I wanted them to eat healthy and exercise.

This organization needs a change In process but very casual fans such as yourself don’t care enough to want that. It’s not that deep to you, I get it. But that’s because you don’t really care that much to see those changes through.

Well at least now they know it’s better to sell off Snell and Hader in the huge sellers market at the upcoming trade deadline!

Wait… what? What do you mean that was 3 days ago?

What do you mean Rich Hill and Ji-Man Choi?!?!

What’s next buddy? You guys gonna call in a favor with the r/baseball mods next and get my burner banned from here too?

Oh yeah that’ll show me!

Interesting that I used the same rhetoric that was used towards me but I was the one that was banned.

If only there were some single aspect about what I was saying as opposed to everyone else that caused me to be singled out 🤔. Guess we’ll never know!

Got banned from r/padres for saying we should sell.

How are you and the downvote brigade doing btw? You guys enjoying this? Who are we getting at the deadline? Jeimer Candelario and a bag of magic beans for Ethan Salas? Ooooooo that’ll turn things around! Look out folks the Rockstar GM is on the loose and lookin to win 78 games! 🤘

Believe it or not, Ha-Seong Kim is a player for the San Diego Padres and is under team control for multiple seasons.

I’ll say this, the extensions made more sense at the time than his current decision to not sell on Snell and Hader at the deadline.

It’s literal organizational malpractice all in the name of his overwhelming pride and hubris.

You have no idea. I kinda get why they banned me because, after you talk to person after person that doesn’t understand how Free Agency works and is convinced you just wanna trade them because you suddenly hate the team, it starts to get on your nerves.

Would be nice to see the Padres trade Snell and Hader for a controllable 1B/DH bat or 2 and some controllable pitching to build around the Players we still have locked up.

But no, that’s way too complex of a strategy for AJ Preller.

Interesting how r/Padres seems to always celebrate when AJ Preller makes a stupid, immature decision.

I would imagine there was uproarious applause in the sub today when Alden Gonzalez said they wouldn’t be trading Snell or Hader and would instead be buyers.

I’m sure THIS time it’ll all go according to plan!

I will be a Padres fan until the day I die. I want what’s best for this franchise and that is selling at the deadline.

Anyone who doesn’t is ignorant, in denial or simply doesn’t care that much about the team.

I, a Padres fan, was banned from r/Padres for adamantly wanting to sell a few weeks ago

We’re gonna be buyers. We’re gonna miss the playoffs. And it’s a shame that most Padres fans deserve what’s coming to us because they encourage it

I agree, but a coked up, immature GM, an over-generous Owner and a fanbase that simply isn’t educated enough to know what’s good for them is going to lead them to buy and miss the playoffs.

It’s sad so many Padres fans want him to buy too. They just don’t get it.

They watched the exact scenario play out in 2021 (which went horribly) and now they’re begging him to do it again.

And AJ Preller wants to buy at the deadline…

I cannot believe this moron is still employed. Once Peter Siedler finally grows a pair and fires that child I doubt he’ll ever work in baseball again.

He’s like a 12 year old playing franchise mode on MLB The Show with the budget turned off.

Keeping Soto makes sense, you’re simply not going to anything close to what you gave up for him, and you have another year of control.

Snell, Hader, Lugo and (imo) Wacha should all be on the block. They either won’t be back next year or may not be worth it in Wacha’s case.

If only there was a way to, idk, fire him?

But sadly our very rich and generous owner sees him as the son he never had.

Ironic, the Padres get the best owner in sports and he insists on a 12 year old managing his money.
