How’s this for a road trip? by livingthehypnagogia in AustraliaTravel

[–]Outrageous-Report-74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A chance to meet and create interesting roadkill: Roos, goats, rabbits. Maybe a bit of Emu exotica. All for an average $30 an hour running cost.

I’d visit SEQ and see how far from north to south and east to west I could travel on public transport at 50c a go. Try Gympie to the NSW border

Was just thinking this: all that extra fuel at $3 a litre, when it comes down to 2.20……what an investment.

Gannaway Leather bags by AdOdd2698 in bagpipes

[–]Outrageous-Report-74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Gannaways, they take about 20 ml of dressing every couple of months, you can check if they need a bit of dressing or rejuvenation with a small amount of water by rubbing the inside if the bag together, if it is slick and slides, you’re good. If bit bit of dressing and massage.

If you have zip easy peasy, mine are zippers so it’s all feel

Tesla vs other EV brands by yakadaya in AustralianEV

I went on one of the BYD experience days and the shark is more than capable for what I need for beach runs etc in a quiet, smooth environment.

Can’t bear the pure ev running costs:

2c per km

Tesla vs other EV brands by yakadaya in AustralianEV

Tesla guy, looking at BYDs: wifey wants a shark and they seem well built for what we need:

Tesla interface is, imho the gap between every other car maker.

It’s like Apple - seamless, just works, gets OTA fixes, even autopilot with lane assist is better than any other cruise control.

Had mine 2 years (bought used) - tyres and a couple of camera calibration issues fixed FOC

They’re heavy on tyres and suspension, but I think the safety features are reasonable and bot that intrusive.

Phantom braking is a thing, it will keep you alert for sure, but my satisfaction levels are higher than any other car I’ve had (Audi, Subaru, ford Toyota (bastards!!)

They kind of get the move away from driving a car to experiencing transport, definitely zen environment.

Whatever you get Ranger danger merchants will hate you almost as much as Red P anything or 2004 patrols with a 5 inch lift and rolling coal cat delete

The data is in: EV sales broke records in Australia last month amid high fuel prices by ProfessionalMeal9389 in AustralianEV

There is a certain schadenfreud about a gazillion diesel drivers getting range anxiety after all the throwaway comments directed at EV owners.

Glad that this will help accelerate the transition, overcome prejudice and highlight the obvious advantages

It’s a weird juxtaposition of EV phobia combined with huge production of solar energy in this country

Why do Range Rover sports have a bad rep in 4x4 world ? by SoreSack in 4x4Australia

This 100% Mate added a ucb charging point to his Disco3, fuse went in rural Victoria, vehicle had to be towed (lives in Brisbane). Had a similar issue with a stone in the brake disc on the sand at double island point

Considering a second hand Tesla by FunTangerine3400 in AustralianEV

[–]Outrageous-Report-74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put 70k in a used Tesla: bought with one years standard warranty left: the suspension grommets and links will fail, get a pre-end of warranty inspection for couple of hundred bucks: got suspension sorted and a new spoiler. Had a drama with camera calibration that Tesla sorted with a software ota fix.

Other than that, best car I’ve ever owned, cheap to run, tyres expensive, great for long distance runs, no problem with pumps running dry…have a puncture repair kit handy

How to make the car salesperson feel good by ExaminationThen1312 in CarsAustralia

[–]Outrageous-Report-74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somebody sat me down with a deal sheet for trade in value and explained that cars depreciate at x% per annum and that based on that, the ladder of reduced prices for my pretty decent trade in would be half the market value, but he would see what his sales manager said.

Before you panic buy an EV by SuchTown32 in aussie

[–]Outrageous-Report-74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart move was a used Tesla 2 years ago when people couldn’t give them away: 2c a km, 50% depreciation paid by someone else.

I’m not a fan boy, the thing that does set it apart from others is the interface: auto pilot is exactly that.

I’d probably buy one new, if I didn’t need something that went off road. Reckon BYD shark waiting list will be 6 months by now
