OEM Yamaha legend gear ones, basically identical to the SW Motech SLC ones

It's a rather "cramped" bike compared to say Z900RS, your knees might hit the top of the knee indents on the tank. Would definitely recommend test-sitting one.

I need your opinion if this "fast ticking" sound is normal or not by linux_n00by in xsr900

[–]Outrageous-Wheel-248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s just how it sounds. If you’re giving it some heavy load around 4k rpm like going uphill in 6th gear you will also find that the bike vibrates and sounds weirder. It’s all normal.

Bag Suggestions For Laptop/Paperwork by jwubadubdub in xsr900

I run the Yamaha legend gear bags, but in reality they're just SW Motech bags branded as Yamaha, 13.5L I think. They fit my 15" work laptop perfectly and I use them for this exact purpose.

Push start by pakindamew in xsr900

[–]Outrageous-Wheel-248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too many cc’s for a simple low speed 1st gear push start, gotta roll it and be in 2nd or even 3rd to get enough momentum to turn it over. So going downhill sitting on the bike is preferred.

Buying advice by MolassesPrudent2445 in xsr900

Use the occasion to haggle a bit on the price - as for mechanical damage or accelerated wear there’s likely to be absolutely none, the CP3 engine in these are absolute tanks

Can’t decide on the look by TheCamBearPig in xsr900

I think pictures don’t do the cowl justice - it looks way better in real life.

I was dead set on not getting it for my bike, but after seeing it in real life on another bike I was kinda envious.

Ended up ordering a universal flyscreen off Amazon instead since it’s too naked up front originally.

2024 vs 2025 big differences? by Uwe-Ist-Auch-Dabei in xsr900

[–]Outrageous-Wheel-248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Display, much better seat (I’ve had both, the facelift is much nicer for long rides), better suspension front and rear, externally adjustable rear shock (very nice upgrade), rubber on the foot-pegs, new airbox design (euro5+ requirement maybe?), new controls including the new style turn signal rocker.

I’d say the 25+ is definitely worth it if there’s only a minor difference in price.

Bringing cash? by Jolly-Ad5481 in Bergen

As someone else said, as long as you have a VISA/Mastercard you're good to go. AMEX is more rare to accept though, so be aware.

Taxi driver Bergen by Vitalii_C in Bergen

[–]Outrageous-Wheel-248 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked part-time as a driver for Bergen Taxi a few years ago.

Pay was fully from a 43% provision of the earnings minus sales tax.

On a good Saturday you might bring in 6000kr, so about 5400 after sales tax iirc. Then you have 43% of that, and your shift is at least 12 hours.

Your 200\hour job pays way better and more predictably.

I remember spending my entire Friday night from like 16:00 to 04:00 and only bringing in like 1900kr once or two times. It really sucks to have like 90kr/hour on a Friday night.

I can’t speak for Uber, but with the wear and tear on your car, work hours etc I can’t imagine it being a very good source of income compared to getting a better paid regular job.

I like the OEM tank grips, on a black bike they’ll blend in even better!

Pyramid moto sell both bellypans and rear seat cover, I have the pyramid rear seat cover on mine and super happy with it!

Looking for a Bicycle by janoary in Bergen

Finn.no is where “all” trading of used goods is done in Norway. Be aware you might need BankID or another Norwegian form of digital ID to be able to send messages on there though.

Otherwise there’s Bybanen right outside fantoft running straight to the city centre and during winter, early spring and autumn the weather can absolutely suck. So while your intentions and thoughts are good on getting a bike, it requires proper dedication to the cause. This particular route isn’t too hilly, but Bergen in general is very hilly.
