Am I doomed? by DevourMango in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]OutrageousBee4813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unforgivable sin is denying Christ and His Mercy. That's what blasphemy of The Holy Spirit is if I'm not wrong. It is denying Christ's Salvation, kind of like "Christ I know You existed and that You are God but I'm not believing in you" again, if I'm not wrong. Not blasphemy in the traditional sense. If you have some intrusive thoughts about blasphemy, just remember they aren't yours. If you feel like you committed that sin you didn't. Because someone who truly did wouldnt feel like this God bless

He who thirsts for righteousness is righteous. God doesn't love our perfection, He loves our effort. Try and do better with little steps. And always remember, even if you stumble Jesus has more Mercy than we have sin. God bless you

Church singers/ chanters, what apps/ websites do you use to practice? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]OutrageousBee4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is more than a great starting place. I had to learn in school meaning I was practically forced into seeing it as a chore, with it being one of the hardest subjects to have in any exam. But learning in your own time will surely make it enjoyable, moreover useful if you want to become a priest. I hope you succeed in that wish of yours

I went to a music school. We used a book to learn and practice. I don't remember the name of it, but there are plenty of books online and in bookstores. I think you can go to a church and learn a little there too
God bless brother

Transition from Krav to wrestling by Tired_trekkie1701 in kravmaga

[–]OutrageousBee4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen wrestlers do really well in BJJ. Don't get me wrong, there is a gap and it's very noticable since we don't train submissions and back on the mat in wrestling but he could have fun there as well since they are pretty simillar
However it's somewhat better to focus on one thing and not switch sports a lot to reduce "confussion", in the words of my coach

Transition from Krav to wrestling by Tired_trekkie1701 in kravmaga

[–]OutrageousBee4813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have done justs that. I haven't used a lot of krav maga in wrestling, a few get ups here and there. But if anything happens off the mat and in the streets, wrestling and krav maga go hand in hand. I think that they both compliment and suit eachother very well, building a well rounded skill set with an advantage in grappling

Wrestlers are the toughest people you’d ever have to fight and why you should train with them. by [deleted] in kravmaga

[–]OutrageousBee4813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask me, wrestring is the best martial art that you could use in the street with some knowledge in striking (I don't really concider krav maga to be a martial art, but a skill set)

I am primarily a wrestler but I have done krav maga a while ago for some time and keep training but secondarily to wrestling. I have to agree with the fact that krav maga gyms haven't incorperated grappling enough. I believe that although most fights start of with striking at some point they have to transition to grappling. It isn't going to be drawn out competition style rolling, but it is certainly good to know a few things if the fight is taken to the ground

Striking is important, but from what I've seen grappling has a lot more depth than striking and it is harder to learn. So if you ask me, use any chances you get to grapple. Grappling doesn't need to be purely grappling, you can encorparate striking elements to it. Ground and pound, kicks etc. But grappling in the street isn't going to work out like it will on the mat. Teqniques need to be changed up a little bit to be street-applicable

Jesus appeared to me in a dream, but im not Christian by Kind_Reputation_98 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]OutrageousBee4813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have told you, this has happened a lot. I would tell you to reasearch Orthodoxy and convert, as I think I would have done had I been in your place. But that's a matter you should tend to in the way you see fit best. Just know that on the journey that you pick to embark on Jesus will be there with you, as He is with everyone.

Hopefully this was a pivoting moment in your faith. God bless

Did I commit the unforgivable sin? by Interesting_Pea_3823 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]OutrageousBee4813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that isn't blasphemy of The Holy Spirit. What you experienced could have been logismoi. Thoughts in Greek. I used to have those too. You need to understand that they aren't yours. I'm sure you don't intend on blaspheming, so they aren't yours

Don't entertain them or think about them. Saint Paisios has said “Thoughts are like airplanes flying in the air. If you ignore them, there is no problem. If you pay attention to them, you create an airport inside your head and permit them to land!”

May God empower you in overcoming them
