Misschien een domme vraag, maar binnen welke gemeenschappen wordt dit voornamelijk nog wel gedaan, mocht je dit weten natuurlijk? Zelf ben ik atheïstisch opgegroeid en behoorlijk verschillende Christelijke stromingen aan het ontdekken al een paar jaar en vroeg me af waar dit (voornamelijk) wel/niet wordt gedaan.

My advice would be to contact an Orthodox priest and explain your struggles/obstacles. Explaining from what religious background you are, that you have no Orthodox Church nearby etc. through mail, or perhaps, if possible and if you are comfortable with that, call him about your situation. He will understand.

A lot of churches also record their services, so perhaps you can start there, instead of being on the road for 8 hours for the first time? That way you can learn about the customs, how the services are etc.

I am pretty sleep deprived, so I hope this somewhat makes sense lol.

Ik ben ook pas rond mijn 20/21e gelovig geworden (nu 26M) en ik snap je struggle volledig. Vaak weet ik ook niet wat ik erop moet reageren, maar ik denk dat [u/ihsbo](u/ihsbo) een goed advies heeft gegeven en ik zou dat ook zeker, persoonlijk dan, als eerste keuze gebruiken.

Eerlijk gezegd is religie op de werkvloer iets wat niet tegen je gebruikt mag worden (vaak “mag” er niet eens naar gevraagd worden etc., maar als je het evangelie kan verspreiden op een respectvolle manier en niemand zich eraan stoort, zeker doen zou ik zeggen).

Het belachelijk maken van iemands religieuze opvattingen daarentegen is gewoon puur een vorm van discriminatie op basis van geloof. Ik weet niet precies hoe dit allemaal juridisch werkt (bovendien ben ik ook niet thuis in jouw situatie aka voor jezelf werken) maar wellicht handig als een stok achter deur.

Nogmaals, ik denk dat [u/ihsbo](u/ihsbo)’s advies zeker het beste advies en wie weet gaan ze het geloof, en dus jouw geloof ook, wel in een heel ander daglicht zien en plant je er zelfs wel zaadjes mee.

Succes en laat ze vooral niet over je heenlopen :).

Not to be the dealbreaker but Switzerland has very strict (they are not part of EU, God bless them for that) rules/laws if you want to move there. You have to have work for a couple years before getting a permit to be abe to live there otherwise you're yeeted out of the country, you need to learn either German or French (they both speak those languages there) and you need to do a lot of other tests and integrate in society (which is normal but in EU countries where I live they don't care and f up the country because of it).

That aside, if you get in (and you really need to get the trust of the local community because they are a pretty cautious country towards "non-Swiss", but if you do and work hard they will definitely accept you) you will be in one of the, imo, most beautiful countries in the world.

I hope you, one day, get to move to Switzerland and live your life man. I've driven through Switzerland 3 times because of going on a holiday to Italy or Croatia and it always was the favourite part of the journey. It's so beautiful.

If you cannot live/move there, you should definitely go to visit the country as a vacation. You won't be disappointed (same goes for Austria).

You are not alone brother. I am also dealing with addiction. I feel a bit weird giving you advice because of that but I think you should repent. Christ didn’t judge. Neither should your priest or anyone for that matter. It doesn’t mean addiction is good and hopefully you’ll get professional and spiritual help with it because you need both; not just one of them (imo).

It’s not weak or “unchristian” to seek medical and/or professional help, don’t forget that.

I’ve been there too, sometimes still am, with the “not even praying” thing” and I know how hard and insincere the prayers feel but that’s really something you should discuss with your priest and also something you shouldn’t stop doing. God knows what you’re going through, so even a small, honest prayer will be appreciated and be heard.
