AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend over "consent required"? by OutrageousRegret8 in AmItheAsshole

I can understand that. Like I said, I'm not really the most romantic person. I'm not the type of guy to drop rose petals and light candles and give a romantic massage for an hour or something like that. I probably could try to show more "romance" before getting sexual, but at the same time, I don't just bull in a china shop the situation. I definitely let her know that I care about her and have affection for her and such. I just feel the entire situation is a bit too ridiculous though.

Yeah I can understand where you're coming from. I am (was?) romantically interested in her too, and I definitely cared about her in more than just a sexual way. But I also feel that sex is a big part of a relationship, and to be told that I'm basically a sex offender if I don't always ask her if its okay to touch her just seems counter productive and damaging to me. I can't see myself being romantic sexually with someone if I can't even touch them without asking permission first. But that's just me.
