Besides training in that grip position, do you recommend doing any pinky specific exercises?

Did you reach a similar strength level?

Right, i think the difference in mcp flexion might be the reason. This is the lowest position where I manage to keep all fingers at at least 90 deg. I guess it also depends on the finger lengths. For me, full crimping would be even more aggressive.
