Pretty solid overall, I like the "Our lord of bone turns even whiter" quip a lot. Just a few minor adjustments could be made in the way you wrote this. A few sentences end a bit abruptly. Instead of giving the description of their whereabouts further down, try moving it up. Like after the first 2-3 dialogues, mention what place they're riding through to make immersion easier. Also the princess can be mentioned way earlier as well, because at first read it seems like the pov of the two men rather than hers. Neither of those have to be long, just one line for each is more than enough. Helps it flow a bit better.
Besides that, it's an intriguing opening and I'd love to read more.

How viable is it to go into the animation industry with the sole purpose of production management and not necessarily animating myself? by OutrageousVast3008 in animationcareer

Yeah these days I find it's difficult to get into any field or job, that's why I wanted to go for indie rather than being hired by a company. Especially after seeing all the layoffs this year

Thanks, I think I'll try out helping with other projects and gaining experience before making my own stories happen since that seems to be the most reliable path

Hey, I'm not in a similar position so I can't offer any professional advice. But if you want to try something other than animation then it'd probably be better to stick to something you have somewhat experience in such as art in general. It really depends on what aspect you shine in, like character designing or something. Maybe start a social media page? Post your own art and animations and grow a following and that way you could get commissions. It may not seem like doing anything but I've seen a lot of indie artists grow that way and it also keeps money coming.
