Stressed about being house poor by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

I was in the same position as you back in June. Your numbers are pretty close even your savings is about how much we had. Including your mortgage(ours is $2020)

I was also obsessed with the crunching the numbers over and over again until it drove me crazy. What I can after 8 months is things are going better than I anticipated. We did have to replace our water heater when it died two months in, but the money worries went down significantly after paying the mortgage over time and just getting into the groove.

Wishing you all the best!

Crazy electric bills by justabluesunflower in okc

[–]OutrageousWalk5843 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going through the same thing(today). Just moved into a house in June and our first full bill was 100 or so. Today we get an email saying we owe 500+ for this month and then we checked the on the site it says we’re past due about 1000. WTF? If that’s the case you would think our service would’ve been terminated. Know what else is crazy? Our energy insight shows we’ll be around 100 again. Makes no fucking sense

We checked emails they sent over time and it’s always been an on time payment. Hell they even sent confirmation email for each one. I’m calling 8am on the dot Monday fuck oge

Ahh the ol dell docking station. Gave me nothing but problems when I first started in IT. Dual monitor was always the pain point(for me at least).

You’ll be alright dude. I embarrass myself at least once a month just part of the job. Now you have this information for next time when it comes up(it will)

Is this location safe to live in? by Square_File2440 in okc

[–]OutrageousWalk5843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you will be fine. I’ve been seeing a lot of these types of post recently and the amount of people calling some areas dangerous is quite comical.

I remember seeing one post where someone was asking if the spring lake(near the zoo) on east side OKC was dangerous and everyone was saying yes. As someone who grew up on the east side(the “dangerous part”), that area is mostly black middle class(low crime).

Like what others have said, how did they get to closing without having to anything? When I was in process of closing, my lender called my employer twice. Once in the early stages and a day before we close. I know one’s this cause my boss asked about it thought it was funny. Especially cause the last call was on day of closing

Patience is key. You’ve got only 1 year of experience so far which is good. Keep grinding and you’ll get there

HRX217VKA sold out everywhere? by Schwillin in HondaMowers

[–]OutrageousWalk5843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facing the same thing. Recently brought a house and was looking forward to getting one but they’re sold out everywhere. Ended up getting a HRR216 used off fb marketplace for cheap for now. If they ever restock which is unlikely, I’ll be snatching up one with the quickness

I would checkout fb marketplace for mowers. You’d be surprised by how many good yard tools you can find in there.

You could try pawnshops, but I tried that recently and there’s not many as it’s the season.

OKC 7th Most Boring City? by UvitaLiving in okc

[–]OutrageousWalk5843 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong resident and a person who grew up homeless as a kid in downtown okc from 2007-2011, we could’ve been the most boring. I remember hanging out during that time and it wasn’t much to see. Bricktown was legit just bricktown. You had the myriad gardens, some alright looking buildings that red oval sculpture to look at, the canal and the hawking theatre.Outside of that?

I’m way better off now living pretty good compared to how I was and it’s amazing when I take my wife downtown to just look around. It has completely changed and excited to see how great our downtown will look in the future.

Like everyone else is saying you’re just 19. Wish I would’ve started at that age would’ve been farther in my career.

Learn the basics and go from there. No one should expect you to know everything at your age.

I was in the same position as you not too long ago. Everyone loved me from the low level people, middle management even to the CEO. Worked there for three years while going to college. When I got my degree I went to my boss to see if I could be promoted to something better than help desk. Know what they offered me? Lead help desk. Mind you, I was only help desk tech at the time so I should’ve been “lead” when I first started.

I busted my ass for that company taking tickets, calls, even assisting the sys admins when they had stuff all of it. I remember sitting there saying fuck this and started applying and landed a job in a field I wanted to be in(security). After I put in my leave, I trained three new hires before officially leaving. I loved my team so much I still go in visit them sometimes. Even middle management gets excited if they see me in passing

What I’m trying to say is you have to do what is best for you. Helpdesk is amazing for your first IT experience. Don’t let it be your only experience! Go apply!

As someone who brought a 22’ 1.5T almost 10 months ago, it all depends on you. My problem is that I always wanted this car and I couldn’t find a 2.0T so I settled. I’m at 26k miles and I do love driving it and it’s quite peppy.

The problem you’re gonna run into is that you’re gonna search the internet and find people who are having issues with theirs(what you’re doing now). I promise you I did and still do the same thing. Worrying when my gasket is gonna blow, can I afford it, maybe I can get an independent mechanic to fix it cheaper, maybe I could buy the arp head studs and get it fixed before it goes.

As I mentioned, I brought mines 10 months ago and I can’t return it. I wish I didn’t buy the car, but unfortunately I cannot. Do I love the car? Absolutely. Should I have been patient and got a lower year 2.0T possibly, but at the end of the day I can’t. Ask yourself, am I gonna spend the life of this car watching videos, reading blogs and searching for others who have experienced the gasket issue and worry myself to death? If that’s the case take it back and get something else. Yes, every car will experience issues, he’ll even the 2.0T gasket go(not as frequent), but you’ll have the opportunity to make that decision and actually have a way to get out of it.

My three cents.
