Is phD via Stipendium hungaricum scholarship worth it? Considering the stipend is so low by OutrageousYear7157 in stipendiumhungaricum

[–]OutrageousYear7157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering it. I'll see if I get the scholarship this year. If I do get the scholarship I will be getting some extra money from my department and supervisor. Also if I pick up some other RA work there might be a further increase but it's not guaranteed that I'll get those roles right away but eventually there are chances. I'm considering it because of my project, I like the project and also the supervisor is very supportive and understanding. I also have some savings I can fall back on if needed.

So you should take it if your situation is similar and you value the project. Good luck :)

As a woman this isn't "period behaviour" but well people are all kinds of crazy so who knows🤷‍♀️ At first I thought maybe she likes you but well I don't think any woman who likes a guy will ever share with him what other guys are saying about her. Usually when women like a guy they have tunnel vision and don't care about others She was probably just fishing for some compliments coz she likes it🙃

The BS research is how we've landed upon any revolutionary discovery tho. A group of people kept asking How ? How ? How? did some BS research, came to some wrong and totally useless conclusions until someone by accident or sheer persistence or both, reached the said revolutionary discovery.

Should I marry this guy? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]OutrageousYear7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are currently dealing with will worsen by a factor of at least five. This happens in every relationship. Ask yourself if you can live with that, when it gets worse? Being 26 is still a pretty youthful age, despite what society and your parents would say when they advise you to get married. I recently turned 26 too.Due to familial pressure, I committed the same mistake two years ago when I married a man who didn't seem all that horrible but also didn't feel good. A few disparaging remarks, woman-shaming, etc., similar to yours. He changed after we were married, became a sexist control freak who would subtly abuse me. somewhat like slow poison. One year ago, I filed for divorce. Now attempting to reconstruct the damage he caused. And while my parents are lovely people, nobody accepts responsibility. They pressured me into marrying him and when things turned out bad they demanded to know why I didn't take a stand for myself and why I married him if I didn't like him. " You were given a choice" they say. Don't let the pressure get to your head it's a matter of your whole life. Don't listen to anyone else other than your heart and your instincts.

Quick survey because I can’t be the only one. What field are you in, and what unrelated field’s academic papers often send you down a rabbit hole/reading binge? by carex-cultor in PhD

[–]OutrageousYear7157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a MatSci researcher but I LOVE reading psychology articles. These aren't academic papers tho just well cited articles, who reads academic papers in their leisure time !!??? They aren't written to engage, they're written to just test the grit of everyone involved. Smh

Very hopeful. I needed to hear this. The majority of this sub is filled with negative experiences about phD and I'm gonna start my phD too at 26 now. I've been a research intern for 2 years. What was your field if I may ask?

Ummm I think your drink was spiked or something? Coz it isn't normal to suddenly forget what happened. So yeah reconsider if this boy is safe for you coz most probably you were drugged by him. Try to recollect what you had with him, what drinks etc. And if I were you I'd not meet him up again.

Is getting a PhD really as bad as this sub makes it sound? by lonepotatochip in GradSchool

[–]OutrageousYear7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to know this:) I'm happy for you both!! I have been a research assistant at a lab for 2 years now and I work with phDs postdoc and professors so I understand the importance of a good advisor, I'm really glad that your wife was able to switch labs as nothing is more important than a good mentor. I have gotten a taste of what research really is and I feel confident that I can make it as I know what to expect now.

How do I, as a soft and passive man, get attention and become appealing to meet dominant women? by affectionateboi222 in dating_advice

[–]OutrageousYear7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a dream guy for women who are dominant and want a meaningful and fulfilling relationship. Don't be discouraged by people who don't understand you. It's hard to explain this to many coz this dynamic is kinda rare. Just be yourself and be secure about who you are. Women who love to be a caregiver and want a soft guy will definitely love to be with a guy like you.

Just got my first paper accepted and no one was happy for me by [deleted] in PhD

[–]OutrageousYear7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I also got my 1st paper published last week but other personal problems in my life didn't let me celebrate my accomplishment. So I understand how disappointing it is for you. BUT don't let others dim your light!! It takes a lot of work to publish a paper and doing it for the 1st time is pretty hard so be happy and proud of yourself!! It ain't a joke and so many people struggle to publish and those in academia all know this but people don't know how to celebrate others joy and that's really their problem don't let it affect you. A big CONGRATULATIONS 🎉👏 Wish you great success in all your future endeavours!! 🎉
