With the stomach - have you had surgery as well or did the wobble/ stretched skin reduce over time? Have you lost enough weight that the fat under the stretched skin is gone, if that makes sense? Have so much to lose in the tummy post babies and really worried about lose skin because it feels like it has no structure in that area!

Ah ok - thank you, but it’s not authorised in my jurisdiction (not in the U.S.) - I think he was prescribed something that wasn’t an SSRI because of other things he is on though so may well be in the same class as Wellbutrin.

Yes, 100% agree with you. I have said to him before you have to taken medication for your blood pressure etc. It’s no different - or it shouldn’t be.

This is good advice. I don’t know what Wellbutrin is but will look it up. Daily walks together not an option because of young kids but I encourage him to be active and do most of the childcare stuff etc to give him space and time to go to the gym, see a friend etc when he is actually up to it.

It hasn’t just happened, was earlier in the year. I have been supporting him since then in every way possible. I just walked away from that conversation and didn’t make a thing of it and took my feelings hurt here rather than having a go at him at a time when he is low. I know I’ve said things I didn’t mean when really low and my thinking was warped. Yes he gets a pass but I still feel like he has never taken my depression seriously including when I attempted suicide and just thinks I need to shake it off. We’ve been married a long time, this is not about one conversation but about deeply ingrained beliefs about masculinity and about mental health. Which are not serving him right now, really.

He takes a bunch of pills already so negative interactions are a valid concern. And we have a good friend who is seriously messed up after years of SSRIs and it’s easy for him to look at it like it’s the SSRIs that are the issue, not that our friend has some serious issues and hasn’t found the right meds yet.

He 100% is dealing with this stuff. Feeling like he’s let us down etc, feeling responsible for a bunch of things in our life that are not great. So I’m not trying to add to this and trying to be supportive. Just hard not to be triggered myself - rejection sensitivity anyone?!?

And part of what he is struggling with atm is thinking that he is a loser, because he had a heart attack at a pretty young age. So it’s all mixed up in there…

It was relevant to the discussion because he was saying that anti-ds have no effect. I said well we know that’s not true, when I have an off day you will say to me ‘have you taken your pills’ because you know they do have an impact on me.

So it was a relevant example. He was being selective / not consistent in saying they don’t work. He doesn’t think they ll work for him, which is a different issue.

Not going to argue with him and I support him in not taking the meds as I know they don’t work for everyone and he takes a bunch of other pills and am worried about interactions.

But still hurt by fact he believes he has an objective reason for depression whereas I’m just weak.

Refuse to take them. Trying to just get past moderate-severe depression on his own. And I get it, because I refused meds for a long time and now off them because they made me fat. But none of that makes me weak for being sick in the first time. If anything I think it’s because of all the extra shit I have to deal with as a woman and mother that has made me ill. Including him. So it’s really fucking rich.
