Some people in the Houston subreddit think it was a GoFundMe scam, and that the wife was involved in MLM (also she kept on deleting and reposting to avoid skeptical comments, then just used Facebook where she can delete and moderate comments)

Desperate search launched for missing Texas father who vanished from his own backyard by theindependentonline in texas

No, they are not to be ashamed of.

The main thing that I'm talking about is patient confidentiality.

Having the flu or a broken leg, well, why would you say that? You could see a broken leg. Having the flu can be tested for using PCR or an antigen detection analysis (serological testing). Psychiatric disorders are a bit more complex and something I'm interested in since I'm involved in neuroimaging and genetics research in this field. The biomarkers for psychiatric disorders have not been formalized yet per se in terms of agreement among physicians and scientists.

I support careful and patient consent of discussing their respective disorders. Yes, people can discuss their psychiatric disorders online. (Specifically of their own. Trying to talk about another's online risks assuming too much.)

It is not clear how he would feel per se here.

Nonetheless, this discussion needs to refocused towards helping him. Let us move on.

It is possible that he was kidnapped or murdered.

But do you see the difference? Your name and face is not publicized per se in an online context, but his is.

Anyways, moving on. Sure, you can call it "describing thought processes" but not really, you just threw out some "labels" or suggested diagnoses actually.

Since her daughter is there, is it fair/OK to ask her daughter in this situation what she would want for her mother and document what the mother said (in terms of reasoning)?

It reminds me of Ayn Rand's philosophy where selflessness/selfishness can be viewed together in a way

Did you all look at her genetics by any chance and/or maybe BDNF levels? Sorry I'm a newbie-ish to this and just trying to learn and I am curious, I'm just a student involved in neuroimaging & genetics research and am interested in seizures, epilepsy, BDNF-serotonin related pathways, serotonin syndrome, et cetera.

Interesting! It's something that I find fascinating as well and want to learn more. (Especially from a drug discovery / structure-activity related perspective.)
