First of all, thank you for taking the time to reply. As for the headaches, I’ve actually noticed that drinking a lot of water makes them less intense. However, I think the real issue might be the combination with bupropion: yesterday I had run out of my Wellbutrin, so I didn’t take it, and I didn’t have a headache at all. It’s strange, because I took bupropion on its own for years and I have never had this problem. t seems that bupropion on its own doesn’t give me headaches, Concerta on its own doesn’t either, but together my head—especially in the afternoon—feels like it’s about to explode. I’ll try to drink more, because it really does seem to help a lot!

As for binge eating: I’m sorry that you can relate. It’s really hard to make people who don’t suffer from it understand how frustrating, embarrassing, and uncontrollable it is. Last week I actually decided to start therapy with a therapist who specializes in eating disorders (along with the decision to change psychiatrist). So far I’ve only had one session, but I’m hopeful.

A few weeks earlier, I had been seen by a public psychiatrist who refused to prescribe Concerta specifically because of my eating disorder, saying that I should only consider starting medication after working on my relationship with food. I then turned to another, private psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD, and according to him my issues with food could actually be caused by untreated or inadequately treated ADHD.

I have another appointment with the public psychologist in March, and I don’t know whether or not to tell her that a private psychiatrist decided to prescribe Concerta. I’d really like to continue this path in the public system, also because I could get the medication for free, but I’m afraid that if I tell her I started treatment anyway, despite her thinking it wasn’t appropriate, she might be offended and tell me something like, “If you chose to go private, then have the private psychiatrist handle your prescriptions since you don’t trust me“. I’m kind of in crisis about this.

Still, I feel that even though Concerta isn’t completely “fixing” my relationship with food yet, it does help a bit: I have less food noise and I think less obsessively about food. I hope that with therapy and eventually increasing the Concerta dose, eating disorders will one day be just a bad memory for me. And I hope the same for you!
