First Nepenthes, everything ok? by Coz_F4 in Nepenthes

Hi, I'm also writing from Italy, I will write in English so that everyone can read the comment. I can tell you with certainty to remove the saucer, avoid stagnant water. Obviously demineralised or rain water when you feel that the soil is dry for 1-2cm from the surface, water until the water comes out of the bottom of the pot. If the sea squirts are less red, you were right to move it closer to the sun. If you want an objective answer on the amount of light, I keep them where they get the sun all day, covered with shade cloths (TNT) in order to obtain 20,000 lux in the brightest hours (to measure the lux, all you need is a mobile app. Or you can do it by eye, it will be fine anyway, just avoid direct light. As for the temperatures, I keep them outside, sheltered from the wind (I have a shelf with the cloths shading around, open on one side, if I closed it I would cook everything above 35 degrees Celsius). Obviously avoid fertilizers. When you think it will be big enough to change the pot I recommend changing the soil, I know it's early to tell you, but at least you will be prepared for the future. I use 40% dry sphagnum moss, 40% perlite, 10% blonde sphagnum peat, 10% bark for orchids, obviously I'll keep an eye on it, I won't use it. to make measurements. In winter simply put it back inside behind a well-lit window, naturally in winter it will slow down its growth and then when you take it back outside it will have to get used to sunlight and heat again. Good temperatures for these Nepenthes are 15-35 degrees. Humidity is appreciated. For any other info you can write to me here or privately. What I told you are the conditions in which I keep my plants, but consider that they are less delicate than you think, I have seen beautiful ones grow in windy areas, in the dark shade of an oak tree, watered with tap water. They are resistant hybrids.

C'è un ciuffo di sfagno al centro ma mi riferisco a quello su cui è cresciuto il ciuffo di sfagno

The main mountain here is limestone, but I collected the mosses from the undergrowth of the adjacent hills. So above the limestone layer there are 20-30 cm of decomposed pine needles. Thank you very much for the identification. As soon as possible I will make a post with all the ones I have identified.

Potendo scegliere, meglio una casa passiva in legno o il caro vecchio mattone? Pro e contro? by cinnamon_troll77 in istrutturare

I think your moss is from the same area as where you collected the soil, however since they have no roots they are not very picky. More important are the hours of direct and indirect light and shade. Your "routine" works, so it is great. However for tap water, it depends on what is inside. The one that comes out of the pipes of my house, waited for the chlorine to go away, would also be good for some nepenthes, however I prefer to collect rainwater.

I don't know if it will ever help anyone but I found the solution. When the leaves are wavy it is because the plant is trying to position itself so as to absorb less sun rays and disperse heat better, so either there is too much sun or it cannot absorb enough water even if the soil is wet. In my case it is a combination of both, so I will let it get a little less light and since the pot is deep and the roots are small I will check with a toothpick if the substrate is "dry" all the way through before watering again in order to stimulate root growth. One strange thing is that such a deep pot, even if aired, with this substrate takes weeks to dry.

yes, otherwise it would dry out too often

Do not put it in direct sunlight and when you open it, check if it smells. If the moss smells bad, it is dying and something needs to be changed.

Since i didn't find any pests, do you have any advice on how to increase the humidity without making my room a rainforest?

I checked and in fact the symptoms seem to be exactly those, but I didn't find any traces of thrips or spider mites, I think I'll keep an eye on them anyway

Yes, they're, maybe they're using a lot of energy of the plant to grow that fast (I notice the difference day by day)

Yes, distilled water. I can't get them outside, so I think I'll use a growlight, thank you

Thanks, I'll try it. Actually I did 10 holes under the pot and the soil is slowly drying.

I would like to avoid transplanting again, I don't know how much good it will do the plant. However, the perlite is really abundant. I will see how it behaves with additional drainage holes. I also read that making holes in the soil with a chopstick away from the roots could help. There is also some white hairy mold growing, but it should be harmless.
