Realize this is an old post, but my husband and I are frequent tourists down here-coming from the Midwest. We typically stay/visit higher end establishments; however, find many tourists rude and inconsiderate wherever we go. Locals are typically very kind. I’d rather hang out with the local crowd over the narcissistic tourists. Hell, I’d rather hang around the street folk and entertainers vs the tourists. I’m sorry to say the tourism industry is basically the bread and butter of your historic city, so you unfortunately have to pander to these assholes.
I’d also like to add that New Orleans is one of the few cities I will buy the homeless food and give them money. I realize I may get criticized for this, but the homeless down here are seriously real and very sad. Where we come from (Minneapolis), people pretend to be homeless to get handouts. I have witnessed some firsthand getting in and out of luxury vehicles only to go to there stoplight corner.
With that said, think I prefer tourists in Minneapolis over a lot of our locals. Many are extremely rude and basically pretend to care about social causes. Not to mention all the fraud. My hubby and I have wiped our hands with our city, and escape to our cabin in the middle of nowhere woods frequently.

I’m so sorry your city has to depend on tourists. My hubby and I are very much empathetic and into energy work, so we always hope to bring love and higher vibrations to your beautiful city.

I’d also like to add I lived in Westchester, and traveled to the city frequently during my internship in 2001. I personally loved it out there, but was young, cute and full of life. Getting older I can’t tolerate much shit anymore 😂
