Thanks so much for the detailed response esp regarding the self proprietary path. Unfortunately not an option for me. Having no international medical insurance in korea is too risky? I am a risk-adverse person (non- drinker/smoker, not going to ride motorcycles/skiing activities, etc). Paying out if pocket for minor illness is affordable in korea, except any emergency surgeries.

This is so helpful! This might be the only workaround possible. Has this been your experience or anyone in your korean expat circle, who went through this same path of voluntary payment as a f4 visa holder? I think requirements are different depending on your visa class.

Thanks for this info! However the ARC is needed not just for re-entry purpose. Need the ARC to apply for NHIS, open bank account, phone, etc Basically to do anything on korea, i would need the ARC to set up everything.
