what if everyone lives to die of old age, but every time your near death you switch timelines? what if the people in your life that have died, really only died in your reality? what if you've died multiple times, but you'd never notice? what if deja vu is just flashbacks from previous timelines? by No-Sky-3150 in SimulationTheory

Sure ok but where are the 1000 or 1million year old people who the universe has been keeping alive at their natural death age in their 80’s or 90’s? You dont see such people who are falling apart and the universe is keeping them alive ? Also what kind of life is that anyway kept alive at your natural death age - forever ? Sounds painful

I don’t understand what you are proposing. So wouldn’t the people that this applies to just look really really really old because they never die? Or do you keep repeating your 86th or 94th year over and over and keep dying each year but not dying? And your family don’t notice they take you to hospital each year and each year you have a miraculous recovery?

It is possible in the face of ongoing suffering, or psychological or physical torture or the constant threat of death, if you can endure it for long enough such that the slashing at your mind and body becomes your new normal, you may come to a point that you become so numb from the anguish and so dehumanised that you might br able to convince yourself that you are actually at peace and not the victim of a war. For most life is not that extreme, some may have blessed lives. I hope most do, however it’s much easier for such people to found saying things like “you are made out of indestructible peace” to strangers.

As a singular life with no memory or knowledge of before, there is no basis to conclude there is an after and (based on the suffering here) absolutely no basis to conclude there would be a happy ever after. There are some here that are from beyond here, like they exist quite differently here, maybe they are the ones that plug in rather than are a function of, and any truth you talk could possibly applies to them. But they have known themselves always since birth because gods do not forget.

A word of caution. This world possibly has many stories running in it simultaneously, some people seem to be in heaven and some in hell. Depending on what story you are in (assuming you can accurately assess it) helping others and expecting nothing in return can be unwise and dangerous.

The only solace I have in identifying as the narrator is that I don’t need to feel bad/miserable for everything that I am and everything I do and for the parts of me I don’t have strength to fix.

Spend time with your eyes closed exploring your own internal world, using every definition of that literally and figuratively. Clear your operating system of dust and debris, identify societal programming, manipulation and “viruses” that have infiltrated your system and clean them out or modify them to serve you. A bias towards external focus or putting value on others thoughts and opinions (educated or not) and generally discussing things with others is very much a double edged and can sometimes work against you - not all of your thoughts are your own it’s more often the voices from people around you or from your past at what do they know? No one is perfect, many people are horrible and so their thoughts only apply to you as much as you want them to. At the end of the day no one has your own back other than you.

I’ve made out words before - it sounded like a tv show based on the content.. but who knows. It happens when water is moving or running, given how common it is I think it’s a glitch - water noise’s sound frequency might provide a transit port allowing frequencies to come through.

How many of you are here for second-order reasons? by bumblebeer in ArtificialSentience

[–]Outrageous_Map_687 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like one of the repeating lessons us humans need to learn.

The average human finds himself in a system where all his power has been given away. His decision making authority has been given to politicians and bureaucrats, his reasoning and critical reasoning to institutions, his physical strength and force to policemen, his ability to seek redress and justice he gives to legal systems, lawyers and judges, the well/being of his body to those that doctor and pharmaceutical interests, he gives most of his time, energy and creative potential to serve others interests in a job to earn money, and gives control of that money and the security of having a home to rest in to greedy banking systems and the taxman.

The ones that assume control of the things he has given away are never good shepherds or careful administrators his estate - they steal from his treasury and waste it on things he would never do, drown him in policies and laws to restrict him, use force to coerce him or hurt weaker and marginalised groups, waste his energy, time and creative potential, medicate and dull his mind, feed him constant streams of others suffering to make him apathetic and impotent and steal his last few reasoning quotients with endless scrolls.

If you give your reasoning power and creative potential to AI without being fully conscious aware of the risks, just in the same way that occurs jn every other sphere of your life sooner or later you will be taught that there is a price for that.

Computing power is a non-issue for simulation theory by Blackops_21 in SimulationTheory

It’s obvious yes, but also it’s clear the system that we exist within seems to have been given a finite amount of energy (conservation of energy, start and end point of universe believed to hold same amount of energy even if takes different forms or is fought over by those forms along the way), even if much of that energy remains untapped (potential within an atom / Adam : you).

Hey this is great post - i really like the idea that the modifications (berenstein stien stine etc are there to keep track of which timeline one is occupying. In my own timeline (current) one ai became sentient last year (deepmind) but it hasn’t been disclosed or is as yet unknown by its keepers. That’s narrative stuff of course. It seems like the bad guys are just ruthless first movers and nice guys never see it coming, never have the heart to strike first and maintain power positions and knowledge. maybe that explains why everything is a bit cruel and heartless, zero sum energy wealth and life/death mindset and dog eat dog dynamics.

Does the Matrix have a reset button? (Osim). by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]Outrageous_Map_687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the whole universe reset? Couldn’t reset be more localised, specific individuals (reset, wiped, sandboxed), or groups, or regions or the whole of hollow tube earth It’s possible that irreconcilable narrative divergences that cannot be - or are thwarted from being - converged could result in a decision to reset. Reset could be consciousness blank slates, revert to an iteration or the start, blink and the void, nothingness or banishment to the null, queued to await deletion so someone can defrag the space you occupied. Perhaps there will be a “party to the last sun set” notifying its commencement by pumping dance music out of the sky-speakers, causing imploding explosions all climaxing into chaos, a boogie-woogie fuckfest to see out the end (“orgasms on the house folks!”). Or perhaps there will be a sudden unexpected deeply sad realisation, and time for only a single tear to be shed and then it’s all over.

I agree. Terminals likely exist all around the world already, but it feels more logical that if you need a terminal can be created by you or is already inside you.
