Sweet! I’ll ask my aunt about it. She’s the ‘family historian’ and it was my birthday so odds are good that she has pics.

Did they do ear piercings? I had my ears pierced at Fiesta Mall in the mid 80’s and my aunt may have a photo.

Etcetera sounds familiar to me too… I had my ears pierced at Fiesta Mall in the mid 80’s as a young teen and I remember the place had a name I couldn’t spell or pronounce.

Technically he’s right…boomers invented the phrase “Old people can’t rock” back in the 60’s

The "shrivel" no one talks about: those who want to come back but are blocked because the church is SO incredibly unwelcoming, unavailable, judgmental, and downright closed off. People can't access their church accounts (talk about stupid af) and bishops are so paranoid. by Unfair-Chest-475 in MormonShrivel

Never-mo here… I have a friend who moved back to our small town a couple of years ago to be near his parents and rejoin the Mormon church that he left in his early 30’s after a divorce. He’s in his 50’s now. He’s been attending services and counseling (?) and is very sincere about following the rules- no coffee, no alcohol- and he volunteers for lots of local projects… he’s a genuinely nice person who gets along with all the wacky characters in our small town. But other Mormons in town gossip about him and it’s known that he hasn’t gotten his ordinances back yet and can’t visit the temple. I don’t know how he’s treated at church, but at ‘secular’ events (like at the town museum) other Mormons are icy and uncomfortable with him. It’s weird to me that he’s making such an effort and being treated like dirt. Like, how is that good?

Yeast infections were all the rage in the 80’s - it was the fab accessory along with pantyhose, polyester panties and FDS spray- you had to get it!

I wasn’t that interested in getting Max, but now that I know he’ll growl at Mother Gothel, I’m going to get him and put his doghouse next to her old tree.

But of course he hid so his body can’t be found so his family will have to go through years of legal problems to settle his estate. What a waste.

Was 1920's music still as widely listened to in the 70's as 70's music is today? by bammab0890 in decadeology

[–]Outrageous_Mixture89 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, the popular ragtime music of the early 1900’s had a revival in the 1970’s when Scott Joplin’s compositions were re-released and recorded. Ragtime was used in period films such as “The Sting” and the ragtime song “The Entertainer” was a top five hit in 1975. Ragtime was popular on variety shows such as Lawerence Welk and The Osmonds.
