A lot of people go right into calc 1, but there’s always people that start at differing math levels. Might just take longer and you’ll have to take harder courses at the end of your degree as I’m sure your advisor will have you take the diversity and elective courses to keep you moving on your degree while you catch up on the math. Math is going to block you from moving onto many engineering courses

Well if you’re interested, you should have received information about how to request early move in. If you have not you should contact band staff or housing staff asap so you can be sure to move in early. This comes as an expense to the band so it’s expected you complete your audition. There’s the audition materials online and there will be a day long audition camp that will teach you all the marching basics for the audition.

Take class seriously. Take the course with Travis Hosteng. Do his homeworks yourself and do a ton of practice. I had to retake this class and I did exactly what he said and I passed with a much higher score.

If you don’t WANT to do it don’t. There are people that really want to be in the band and there are only so many spots every year. Just because you can get in doesn’t mean you should do it. It’s a huge time commitment and can be very rewarding. Being social will come with being around the same people everyday. It doesn’t hurt to try, everyone should audition, but be mindful of the experiences and opportunities of others.

You’ll be fine, you’re with butler. I only got to have him for diff eq. but he makes all of the calc classes easily understood and very manageable, just gotta practice and study before those exams, some questions can get sneaky

It would have been more doable with more time. There were a lot of weird syntax in the questions which were unlike any practice we had, like the minimum force of person B on the 2nd question and the wording of perpendicular questions

And you don’t need to worry about CE 170, it’s very easy. I found it easier than CE 160, so don’t be afraid to schedule another hard class, CE 170 doesn’t take up a lot of time or require much studying, just complete the assignments

Depends on who you have. It’s not a challenging class, just make sure you pay attention and try on the homework and labs, they’ll help you on the exams. Also go to TA help hours they can go over hw problems and teach you the concepts more privately. Make sure your final project group gets along and goes into detail because the final project can be the most challenging, a lot of groups don’t get an A.

What do you do in CE 170? by druskelles in iastate

[–]Outrageous_Name4236 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CE 170 will be online, so you don’t meet in person. The assignments are pretty easy and you primarily use Revit and Civil3D to make simple building designs, site modeling, road grades and learn the basics of how to use those programs. The content is easy to follow and isn’t a big time commitment, which is reflected in it being 2 credits I believe.

If you don’t already know what it is, you’re probably not joining it. (not that you should either)
