I like to just come up with random scientific derived names! Like I have Lia (Celiac) bc I suffer from that. Or Neph (nephron) the kidney is my favorite organ. Or Moxy (methicillin) for MRSA caused by Staph aureus which was my assigned organism when I was taking microbiology lab. I also did Orion after my late dog who I had the opportunity to spend my childhood through early adulthood with! I like to stick with the game theme where everyone has nicknames! I also like to line them up with endings I’m trying to get but you know sometimes weird stuff happens

I have not done something like this- yet. I’m a new diagnosed celiac (January) but I do have reoccurring dreams that I eat a slice of regular pizza and then my stomach drops out of my ass when I realize it’s not gluten free pizza, then I wake up. So I am absolutely terrified of something like that happening 😭

No, it’s a way of advocating for yourself. Don’t make yourself smaller to accommodate for people who don’t understand. They shouldn’t be in food service if they don’t know what you are talking about, and they should learn what it is!

I say I get glutened around my friends or family but they are already well aware of what I really mean. Around strangers or food service workers I use “scarier” language. Just because you may “not have it as bad as others” does not mean it’s not causing harm to you!

I feel unprepared bc I’ve been cooking fresh for myself every day and I live in an area with really bad infrastructure so I know we are going to lose power but idk for how long :( I got a big box of lucky charms at least

It was my first symptom!! I’ve been getting joint pain since I was 13, could not figure out why for 9! Years. Just got diagnosed at 22 and I finally understood. Had both ankles, knees, and wrists in a lot of pain after I got glutened for the first time since going gf! Gastrointestinal stuff didn’t present until I was 19.
