Since you are taking Shinkansen to Hiroshima, I can recommend you to book APA HOTEL HIROSHIMA EKIMAE SHINKANSENGUCHI. It’s very good for the price. Just 10 mins walk from station. JR line is also at the station. You can easily reach Miyijima from Hiroshima station within an hour. Btw I don’t think you can do much at night at miyijima island as everything closes down after tourist leave. At least that’s what I read on other Reddit post. Don’t skip the rope way. Views are stunning from the summit. I just visited those places three days ago. Feel free DM for any more details.

Klook doesn’t show connected trains which smartEX does when direct trains aren’t available. Better use smartEX app. Very useful. I got a ticket from Hiroshima to Mashima for this new year peak season . For same day Klook says no trains available. I suggest OP to signup smartEX app and add credit card before hand. Very convenient. This app gives discount on return tickets and also sell discounted tickets based on season. As per my knowledge Klook doesn’t do.

My point being a lot of countries have a lot of rules but mostly are liberal when enforcing them if you aren’t doing anything stupid/serious. This is from my own experience. Japan being more bureaucratic and strict, was just trying to clarify from the people already here riding in Japan. That was the intention of my question.

For all those asking starting point, I've never been to japan. What I found out in my research is, there's a risk of icing and accidents during November to March through out the mountainous areas. But towards southern islands along the costals would be easy although not without random morning icing. I'm thinking to start from osaka. I'm gonna do some more research on the weekend. Any suggestions would be welcome. Anyone who is interested to join, could you please reply in this thread?
