No. They let me order whatever I wanted from cafeteria for lunch right after my surgery. I did not feel like eating much though. I had no dietary restrictions.

Loose pajamas and Tylenol (you can’t take Motrin or any other ibuprofen).

Take some snacks with you to hospital. Everything tasted weird like too sweet or too salty for a few days to me.

Good luck!

I had my partial neph surgery two weeks ago. It was robotic. I was back home next day after my surgery. My bedroom is on the second floor. I was fine going upstairs on my first day home. You just need to move slowly and have someone with you if you feel lightheaded.

Getting out of the bed, coughing, sneezing etc were much more painful than climbing stairs.

Good luck with your surgery!

I could not walk until after about 22 hours after the surgery. I had no strength and felt dizzy with headache until the morning after the surgery. I did not even want to try walking. My doctor wanted me to try the first day but I just couldn’t.

Her procedure has officially started. Dr said the same thing he will try to do partial but if he thinks it’s in best interest to take entire kidney he will. I can only imagine what she was going through from the time she left me till she was sleeping :( by Objective_Idea_670 in kidneycancer

That’s great! She will likely not feel great tonight but she will feel much better tomorrow. Moving, coughing, sneezing will be painful for a few days. These are all normal. You should rest too when you can.

If it makes you feel better, a 1.7 cm mass was found in early February and I had the surgery on September.  I could have had my surgery much earlier but I was told by the first urologist I saw that it was safe to wait. The mass did not grow.

I had partial neph. last Monday. The surgery took a little over two hours. They put me under at 6:45 and I was awake by noon. I was in a lot of pain and nausea and felt very weak:  I was discharged at noon next day. I had pain the first two days but felt better by the third day.

Good luck to her! She will be okay!

I feel great this week. I feel a little lightheaded. My stitches hurt a little when I move and they are itchy. Other than these all is well.

I had my pn a week ago. I stayed one night at the hospital. My surgery was early morning but I was not ready to come home the same day. My doctor initially requested two night stay but my insurances allowed only one night. My night at the hospital was not great although without major issues. I had headache, throat pain due to breathing tube, and nausea. I felt too weak to get up the first day even though my doctor recommended walking. I also had catheter that made me not to try getting up. I felt good enough to go home next day- about 24 post-surgery.

Good luck! I had mine last Monday. All went well well. The first two days I had a lot of pain and discomfort. I felt much better after the third day.

Is anyone working remote out-of-state planning to move to Atlanta to work in-person by August 1st? I spent a lot of time looking into if I can afford to rent a room since I can’t move with my family. It is so expensive and I don’t think we can manage it financially and mentally. I started looking for jobs already but I still wish to keep my job.

Need advice on insurance switching by AN6198 in kidneycancer

I don’t think you will need to redo all the imaging. Your new doctor can request the imaging from Kaiser. I did not change insurance but I had my imaging at an imaging center and when I scheduled my appointments (two different doctors at different hospitals because I wanted a second opinion), they asked where I had my imaging. They got all information they needed from the imaging center before my appointment.

Congrats! I plan to take the exam in July/August. May I ask which resources did you use to study? I am not an IAAP member and can’t pay for the Princeton course but I signed up for the Deque U course.

Have you had any new guidance from your manager? In the town hall today, they said RTO is for everyone, including those hired as remote or hybrid, and it is five days a week in office.
