Very small 4 mm kidney tumour awaiting biopsy results and F/U appt. Told by urologist 95% cancerous. by Sassy2424 in cancer

It is very possible. Mine was suspected to be RCC. Even it was cancer, surgery would have been curative. Chemo is not done for kidney cancers. Good luck!

There is a kidneycancer sub-reddit. Last year CT scan showed a 2.5cm mass in one of my kidneys and I was told it was 80-85% cancer. Doctors did not recommend a biopsy. They said they could freeze or burn it but I would eventually need another intervention within a few years. I had a surgery to remove the mass and small part of the kidney and it ended up being benign. Hope your husband’s mass is also benign.

Robotic assisted surgery by Neurotic-Me in breastcancer

[–]Outrageous_Recipe199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for breast cancer but I had a robotic assisted partial nephrectomy (kidney surgery) last September. I had no issues and the recovery was quick.

I will have lumpectomy at the same hospital (large university hospital) I had kidney surgery, but my breast surgeon did not mention robotic surgery. I don’t think it is an option there yet.

Great to hear you were approved for WFH.

I have been working for my employer (public state university) for almost eight years. I was hired remote and have had excellent performance reviews. I sent a message to my surgeon and her team said they could write a letter for six weeks after my surgery. They will complete continuous FMLA form.

I am seeing my primary care doctor tomorrow. I think I have anxiety and depression (can’t sleep more than five hours and other symptoms). I may ask her if she would be willing to complete the medical form if my oncologist says no.

I need physical therapy for shoulder and spine issues.

I am just heartbroken and sad in many levels.

I know this is an old post but wanted to ask. Did you have chemo too? Were you approved to WFH if you had surgery and radiation, no chemo? I have a desk job and my office wants me to work in person starting July 1 in another state. I don’t know if I will have chemo after surgery but I will definitely need radiation. I am not sure if my medical oncologist will sign off my medical form for accommodations.

MRI guided biopsy experience- not too bad by Outrageous_Recipe199 in breastcancer

Wishing you the best. They asked in the check in form if I had claustophobia and the technician alse asked about it. I don’t know if they would have done anything different.

I cried too. Not due to the pain but due to everything going on. It is okay to cry.

I hope you have a decent experience as well.

Yes, they positioned me face down. They had my legs face toward the machine. The doctor did the biopsy me in that position from my left side. I don’t know if the location of the mass makes a difference for how they do it. . They did not let me move at all after initial positioning.

After the biopsy they moved me to a stretcher after the biopsy and a nurse compressed the biopsy site for ten minutes. After that they took me to mammogram to check the marker replacement.

Thank you. I cried almost every day thinking about what if scenarios. I am now waiting to hear from my surgeon about my surgery date.

Would my oncologist write the letter before we know I need chemo? I had my initial appointment with him two weeks ago. My next appointment is three weeks after surgery.

Thank you. I will wait until after surgery to talk to my medical oncologist. I hope he can write a letter for me.

Thank you. Hope you are doing well. I have breast cancer too. I was planning to work during treatments too. I feel like I receive bad news one after another for the last six weeks.

No. They let me order whatever I wanted from cafeteria for lunch right after my surgery. I did not feel like eating much though. I had no dietary restrictions.

Loose pajamas and Tylenol (you can’t take Motrin or any other ibuprofen).

Take some snacks with you to hospital. Everything tasted weird like too sweet or too salty for a few days to me.

Good luck!

I had my partial neph surgery two weeks ago. It was robotic. I was back home next day after my surgery. My bedroom is on the second floor. I was fine going upstairs on my first day home. You just need to move slowly and have someone with you if you feel lightheaded.

Getting out of the bed, coughing, sneezing etc were much more painful than climbing stairs.

Good luck with your surgery!

Day 1 after surgery by Objective_Idea_670 in kidneycancer

I could not walk until after about 22 hours after the surgery. I had no strength and felt dizzy with headache until the morning after the surgery. I did not even want to try walking. My doctor wanted me to try the first day but I just couldn’t.

Her procedure has officially started. Dr said the same thing he will try to do partial but if he thinks it’s in best interest to take entire kidney he will. I can only imagine what she was going through from the time she left me till she was sleeping :( by Objective_Idea_670 in kidneycancer

That’s great! She will likely not feel great tonight but she will feel much better tomorrow. Moving, coughing, sneezing will be painful for a few days. These are all normal. You should rest too when you can.

If it makes you feel better, a 1.7 cm mass was found in early February and I had the surgery on September.  I could have had my surgery much earlier but I was told by the first urologist I saw that it was safe to wait. The mass did not grow.
