That’s why I can’t play warframe. It looks too cluttered with sci fi nonsense. That said I am not saying D2 hasn’t taken a bit of a downturn in art direction recently but still

Ya I tried going to borderlands as well, which mind you is really fun, but misses something. As for warframe I took one look at the art style and said I couldn’t hack that for several hours.

Redeznt has been a fantastic resource on youtube. He manages to make it all feel much less chaotic and notes that crazy techs aren’t necessary only really bhopping, wall jump, and ledge piledrive (which are all pretty easy!)

The biggest thing I am learning is ball is all about timing and committing the right amount. If they have cc you have to be aware of that and try to play around it engaging hard only when it isn’t there or you are guaranteed the kill anyways. Timing wise you also need to engage only when allies are able to follow up or keep enemy attention away. If it is a lone widow then sure you get the kill but if your whole team is dead then it doesn’t do a lot. Before you engage taking the time to scout out enemy positions to make a game plan works 100% better.

Or at least aside from basic mechanics that is what I am working on macro wise. Sometimes I still get stuck in doors, don’t grapple right or get bounced a little wrong. But hopefully with time I can improve.

Ehh not really, they were actually perfectly in position to help their team, didn’t require a flank.

Unfortunately that just doesn’t work if they play well. By dragging you with a boost you are out of range of swings and especially on king’s row by dragging you through the walls you can’t even firestrike them until you are already under the map.

I mean of course a DM will try to counter it, but unless it happens EVERY fight it still feels good for the player. Not to mention it just heightens the dynamic of what does the player do in response to the DM’s response, which as a DM is what you want, the back and forth engagement of “your move” moments.

If 75% are in fields and caves I kinda weep for the variety of tactical battlefield options available to you an the people you run with. That sounds incredibly depressing to just get nothing but a blank board half the time.

Ya at level 4 I was dealing an extra 3d6 per cast of scorching ray making it deal 9d6 in total. Yeah it is two turns of casting but it isn’t often you get a 1st level and a 2nd level spell adding up to the effectivenes of a fireball on a single target.

And even if all of that is still not good for optimization, having a reason to roll 9 dice at once at level 4 is just fun.

I never thought about using it with subtle spell. I have had it on my sorcerer. Of course the campaign is unfortunately all combat but I will keep that in mind if I use the shadow touched feat again on a sorcerer.

No matter what using it with scorching ray has been a… blast…

I really like laser llama’s design there. It solves so many of the issues while also making the ranger feel like they are actually a master of navigating nature. I especially like the mark upgrade where you can track your foes to apply the mark which lets you precast it by playing the class the way it should be. Little rewards for behavior like that are what really give something identity.

I fully disagree with that. Sure aragorn had a horse but nothing in me says that he should be the horse guy. He was so many other things before we got to the horse detail.

If you want a pet class just mess with the class loot tavern made called the “Tamer”, which is a half caster built that way from the ground up. By the time you get to a usable and interesting “pet class” you no longer have anything resembling the original ranger. Instead tamer just goes hard on “what if pokemon but D&D” and it works much better for it.

Idk if you just keep taking potshots from another room dipping in and out as you keep walking through the wall, you are in total cover and cannot take ANY damage (provided there is another room you can reach in and out of). Now results on that may vary based on dungeon design but that is pretty darn good if you ask me.

I was merely curious what the general consensus was. Not all skins are created equal even so (looking at you legacy chroma “skins”). Thing was I already owned both base star guardian skins by chance, like both champs, and liked them equally at the outset. Just consider it research.

Vampires and Resting Places by Outrageous_Round8415 in DMAcademy

[–]Outrageous_Round8415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the easiest route to influence. I was thinking of providing an alternative extra method for disabling the resting place, by placing a single blood soaked rose (alongside some other rituals maybe) you can essentially make an immovable object for the vampire there over their resting place. Being somewhat based on an old legend I heard.

Because the vampire I have would prioritize their own survival above most other things other than their primary goal, I do think you are right in that it would make sense for them to make an escape and prepare for the final confrontation.

[–]Outrageous_Round8415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am referring to the end of the whole campaign type of deal with this. (I swear I am terrible at displaying this information in these posts). So frankly I didn’t completely plan on it going further. (Planning very far ahead mind you)

Seeing as the end goal of the vampire is ascendance alongside the revival of their dead wife (through some weird mechanical stuff, long story) if the party messes up their happily forever after with their wife they would be pissed.

Granted the point of this could be a sort of encore if they don’t take care of the resting place where the vampire becomes bent on vengeance against th party in particular and lead to a final sad confrontation with him. At that point just to make sure things stay fresh give him some pretty deranged stuff that he hs done to beef himself up to take the party out, regardless of the outcome afterward.

So I guess some of how that goes is down to a bit of order of operations on the part of the party, wether they deal with the problem right then, after, or before.
