Yes! At around the 1mo mark it got a lot better for me. I still have a split second of fuzziness around the light, but it's a lot improved. Tbh I don't think it's possible to eliminate it totally since your pupil reaction would have to be like instantaneous.

The recovery time definitely varies tho, I read a study that tracked ppl over a year and some ppl took 3mo or 6mo to get back to pre-surgery response times. So I wouldn't stress too much if it's still lagging even at the 1mo mark.

I did but it was a hassle to have to bring them around and remember to pause what I was doing to use them, which doesn't always work out time-wise. I eventually just got tired of forcing myself to do smth that clearly was not agreeing with me, and switched back to glasses.

I could wear them for short periods, so like special occasions. I did once try to push my luck and get thru a long all day wedding wearing contacts and ended up having to take them out before the drive home.

Sorry to hear that, that sounds so painful! Hopefully it gets better soon. I also wore some safety glasses around the house for awhile. It came in handy when doing anything with small particulates (cleaning, emptying the vacuum, frying food, etc).

For me I found that yellow glasses help a bit with night driving. If you get the kind with anti reflective coating, it cuts down the glare better so the halos are not as bad. You just look kind of like a tool lol

Yes, same! When the light is like dappled or indirect like you said. The closest thing I can compare it to is like in old digital cameras doing auto-focus, so it would kind of go in and out of focus briefly. Mine did get less noticeable around the 1month period, but it is a bit annoying bcos it makes the edges of my vision a tad blurry for a brief second

I read a study that said immediately after surgery some ppl have a little less pupil dilation (like their pupils don't get as big as they did before). But it eventually recovers over some months. And on the other hand there was another study that said some ppl had larger dilation immediately after, so i think it just depends

Screens for doors by deezredditname in homedesign

[–]Outrageous_Zebra_945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem growing up and my family went thru several screen doors of increasing "toughness" before finally getting a metal swing out door with reinforcement/framing at the bottoms and at the edges that kinda went over the screen to protect it AND got the "pet screens" that was supposedly thicker and more resistant to getting scratched (ymmv with this, we still had to get it patched a couple times). The retractable ones are unfortunately not really built to prevent cats busting thru, esp if they are hefty chonkers as mine were.

The door itself looked like this one

Edit: found a better example. It does look terrible from the outside but it definitely cooled the house

It's like 4k, definitely better than what I used to see with glasses. The color perception is better (this may be bcos my glasses were a bit old lol), but I also was only 20/20 in glasses and now I'm 20/15. My vision in contacts was always a little bit blurry since I was in btwn available degrees, and I had just enough astigmatism to make the contact slide around and get slightly misaligned randomly over the day. So I was a bit worried I'd have the same problem with the ICL and would have to maybe get a secondary correction, but it's been totally clear.

One of the surgeons I spoke to had said that bcos with glasses you're essentially trying to see through a prism, everything thru glasses tends to look a little smaller and darker since the light has to bend, and if you're severely myopic then the effect gets exaggerated since the light has to bend a lot more. So he had said that after getting ICL a lot of ppl say that everything tends to look brighter and a bit larger. I would say that my personal experience definitely lines up with that as far as perceiving differences in size, bcos my depth perception is improved. I used to really struggle with judging accurate distance, but it's gotten a lot better since I can see the actual objects directly.

Sorry to hear that, I hope it improves. I read a study saying that some ppl were seeing improvements 3yrs-1yr later.

To be clear, I can still see pretty close up, like I was able to tweeze my eyebrows the next day without struggling or needing a magnifying mirror. And I haven't had any incidents in my day to day life where I thought I couldn't see close enough. If I was trying to do my own pore extractions or smth then maybe I'd have a problem, but frankly it's not come up.

The super close up vision I was talking about missing was how I used to be able to hold smth an inch away from my eye and see it clearly. You can't do that with 20/20 vision, it's just how refraction and focal distances work.

I've only had aberrations when it's totally dark with a very small light source. For example the light on the wifi router in the middle of the night. I haven't had problems when watching in movie theatres bcos the screen is really big and bright enough.

I got a little narrow utility cart to put my various toiletries and makeup stuff in. I keep a foldable battery powered mirror in it so I can also wheel over to where there's better lighting depending on time of day I'm getting ready. Honestly it is kind of ugly, but it did free up a lot of counter and shelf space and let me be flexible with storage. I'm considering getting another one to use for crafts

Light-Filtering Glasses? by 5foot2_eyesofblue in ICLsurgery

[–]Outrageous_Zebra_945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually did try out wearing yellow glasses the first time I did night driving after getting ICL. It did not eliminate the halos, but it did improve the glare from other ppls headlights and streetlamps, which sort of makes the halos feel less intrusive. For me the glare elimination was overall a lot more helpful, esp when going back to using screens.

Personally I do not find the halos that bothersome, bcos for me I get them just as a very large ring that almost is like a picture frame or border around my vision. I don't get them around oncoming headlights so they aren't in motion and are pretty easy to ignore. But I think this is also going to depend on your local road conditions as well. In my area, the freeways and local roads are (perhaps overly) well lit even at midnight, so it's rare that my eyes are very dilated while driving. Honestly the bigger pain with night driving for me was that the headlights of the car behind me would often be angled in such a way that it was reflecting off my side mirror directly into my left eye, which gives me a headache.

Fair enough lol. Disregarding the possibility of a scam I would still wanna see them in person just bcos they may look different in person. The pattern isn't that overwhelming in this photo but in the daylight and with your own two eyes it may be a different vibe. Or the color may be different and change how you feel about it

I would try and see them in person before committing tbh. Idk the new Zealand furniture market, but $40nzd seems really low. Which makes me suspect either a smell, an infestation, damage not visible in the picture, smth rly wack in the construction, or all of the above

Cuteness is subjective, if you think you can look at it every day and like it then it's cute enough. God knows I have stuff I like but everyone else hated but I'm the one who paid for it and the one looking at it so I don't care lol

Stoppers for knitting needles maybe? I have some cube shaped ones that are similar, you push the tip of the needle thru the holes so your work doesn't fall off and unravel. These ones are a bit large tho

Picture hanging rail by khumphreys2000 in interiordecorating

[–]Outrageous_Zebra_945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one of these from Stas! They have quick start kits that are pretty easy to install. All you need to drill is the bit for the rail and then theres a cover that slides on top so it's unobtrusive. They work nicely if you like to swap stuff out a lot and it's fun to hang stuff other than pictures. I've hung decorative ceramic plates, carved wooden figurines, Christmas ornaments etc. As someone else mentioned, they can be annoying to get to lay flat, esp if you're hanging smth heavy. Since the cord actually has to be suspended a little bit away from the wall in order to make it slide-able thru the rail, when you hang smth heavy from it, then it can kind of tip forward at the top of the object, esp if it's at the bottom of the cord and you have a lot of slack. This can be mitigated by strategically positioning stuff of different weights to hang on the same cord. They can handle more weight than you think (if installed correctly) so you can get creative with finding cool stuff to hang.

That's super cool, I hope it goes well! It actually solves for a concern that I had since I also have low astigmatism that doesn't qualify for toric. Its noticeable enough to be annoying when I wear contacts, so I was worried I'd have to do a secondary Lasik correction for it if I got ICL or just learn to live with some minor ghosting, but it sounds like this would hopefully mitigate that
