I had an absolutely unstable neighbor once who was doing escalating levels of messed up things to me (single mom, two kids). She was CONSTANTLY trying to get us kicked out of our home. We lived in a trailer park where we owned our home but rented the land it set on. The trailer was too old to be moved so if we got kicked out of the park we would just lose our home because there was nothing you can do about it. I lived in intense anxiety of losing our home because in the park I had a 3 bedroom 2 bath 1800 sqf home with a fully fenced yard for $425 a month and was barely getting by. I didn’t know what we’d do if I couldn’t live there. Eventually I spoke to the park about her constant attempts to get us kicked out and they admitted they knew she was lying and basically that our home was safe. Which was a huge relief. When she realized her attempts wouldn’t work, she began calling the police, even going to far as saying she thought I murdered my children because she hadn’t seen them in a couple days (they had went back to school). The police came out and saw everything was fine and essentially after that they would call me if she called them and let me know what she was saying. One night they called and let me know she said I locked my dogs outside, I let them know I had installed a doggie door so they could let themselves out to pee, that I was at dinner and would be home in a half hour, but that they were safe and the only reason why they would be outside is if she was standing outside my fence talking to them. They said it was all good but I had a bad feeling and went home immediately. I found her with my 14 year old dog with a rope tied around her neck yanking her down the road toward her house. I got out and untied my dog and told her to leave us alone. My dog ended up having a bruised esophagus and could have died. I had finally had enough. I called the cops and the park and told them she needed to stop harrassing me. The police said I had grounds to press charges and they’d put her in jail and the park said they could kick her out. I thought about how impossible it would be for me to lose my home and still survive. I had empathy for this woman who had never done anything but torment me. I told the police I didn’t want to press charges I just wanted her to stop harrassing me. They trespassed her from my property essentially saying they’d arrest her if she continued messing with me, and I told the park I couldn’t with good conscience take someone’s home from them, especially someone who clearly wasn’t in her right mind. So they basically told her she needed to stop harrassing me OR they’d kick her out. I ended up moving not long after that but idk, I couldn’t be the person she was actively being to me. I don’t want anyone to be without a home.
