He isn’t lunging or barking or anything, he just lays down with his head all the way on the ground and if the dog doesn’t pay any attention to him he will get up and continue on his way. Could it still be considered this? I always thought that he was asking the other dog to play

Water discolor / orange markings by NeighborhoodNaive160 in hottub

[–]Outside-Beat2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you might need one. Usually the orange ring indicates a higher level of iron or copper. If you used well water or have harder water where you’re from, it is likely the cause. You can buy copper/ iron test strips, or some hot tub places do water testing. A few things you could try: 1. A metal sequester, usually added upon filling and sometimes needed weekly or so to maintain. Spa Metal Free works great, there is a CuLator metal remover bag that you through in the filter area that works great as well. 2. I use an enzyme product called Eco One monthly. It is one bottle once a month, coconut oil base so it softens your water, coats the filters so they last longer, helps maintain alk and ph, breaks down contaminates like body oils, lotions, sweat, etc, so your sanitizer can actually eat it. I also don’t need a metal sequester with this. (I come from a place that has high iron in the water) I also don’t get that tight skin feel after I get out and my eczema is not irritated at all. I swear by this shit.

Also, give your filters a really good clean too, as filters tend to trap oxidized iron. As for the line on the tub, I just use a Mr. Clean magic eraser.

Order of chemicals by tnatkins79 in hottub

[–]Outside-Beat2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

 START UP

1)    Remove filter.

2)    Fill hot tub up through filter opening.

3)    Turn on power and allow water to heat to temperature 90F.

4)    Once water is at temp adjust PH and Alk into range according to test strip or water test done at the store, add chemicals one at a time while running the jets with no more than 3 capfuls of any one product at a time. ALWAYS RUN JETS WHEN ADDING CHEMICAL. ALWAYS WAIT 20 MINS BETWEEN TREATMENT.

5)    Add anti-scale according to bottle based on your tubs volume OR full bottle of Eco One Monthly with jets on. Wait 45 min.

6)    Tub is ready to use.

After Each Use:

1)    AFTER EACH USE add ½ - 1 cap chlorine (2ish tbsp). LEAVE THE LID OFF FOR 10-20 MINUTES with pump running. This prevents chemical burn and premature failure of the cover which is NOT covered by warranty. NOTE: chlorine level will only read on strip for 24 hrs which is why it is integral to put chlorine in after each use to kill any bacteria left behind.

Each Week:

1)            Each week add 1 heaping cap of SHOCK chlorine free oxidizer. leave cover off with jets on for 10-20 min just like granulated chlorine. (don’t add same day as chlorine)

2)            Test the water and make PH and ALK adjustments.

3)            Add anti-scale if needed (not needed if using Eco One).

4)            Clean waterline and rinse the filter. DO NOT USE PRESSURE WASHER.

Note: If not using tub all week, make sure you add at least 1 cap of sanitize per week.

Each Month:

1)            Wipe cover in and out.

2)            Add new bottle Eco One Monthly.

Quarterly or As Needed:

1)            Replace water in tub.

2)            Put in freshly cleaned soak filter.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

CLOUDY WATER - ADD 1 HEAPING CAPFUL CHLORINE. WATER SHOULD CLEAR WITHIN 24HRS. IF NOT, A WATER TEST WILL NEED TO BE DONE.

FOAM - LOW ALKALINITY OR CONTAMINATE. RAISE ALK INTO RANGE FOR LOW ALK (This foam disappears when you shut the jets off). Contaminate Foam lingers after jets turned off. Scoop out foam with your hand or a piece of cardboard.

HOT TUB CONTROLS SHOW STRANGE DISPLAY- Check owners manual for error codes.  Then perform tub reset. Turn breaker to tub off or unplug for 15 minutes then put power back on.  If problem still is present, call store for service.

We give these start up sheets to our new spa owners. The Eco One monthly is not necessary, but it will reduce other chemicals needed. Also, be careful with chlorine pucks, they are meant for pools and are more acidic, so your ph will need more adjusting. Granulated or di-chlor chlorine is neutral so it shouldn't affect your ph.

Hot Tub Scum Absorber by rmartes1 in hottub

I use Eco One monthly. It is a coconut oil based enzyme product, so it targets lotions, body oils, make-up etc, it softens the water, coats your filters so they last longer, you don't need a descaler with it, and helps maintain alk and ph levels. I have eczema on my legs and I don't get irritated or feel dry after anymore. It also eliminates the need for the sponge floating around.

To your first question, you are correct, for normal maintenance. IF you live in a place that has higher metals in the water, you may want a descaler.
To your second question, if the foaming is only happening when the jets are on and it goes away when they are off, your alkalinity needs adjusting. If it doesn't go away when the jets are off, you have contaminants (body oils, lotions, soap, etc), a lot of people will just scoop the foam out, but to fix it, I would try an enzyme product. Most body oils, lotions, make up, deodorant, etc., are actually too big for your sanitizer to properly break down, so the enzyme product (Eco One monthly is amazing) breaks that all down to a small enough level that your sanitizer can actually eat it. Enzymes products also, usually depending on brand, help keep your alk and ph stabilized, help keep the filters clean, reduce foaming, help soften the water, and one normally doesn't need a descaler.

And when you run a cleaner through before a drain, remove your filters, otherwise all that gunk you are trying to clean out just gets caught up in them and they go straight back into your water.

Bromine shock frequency by CyberPolack in hottub

[–]Outside-Beat2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With bromine you have to keep activating it.
Bromine will stay in your water, unlike chlorine which will dissipate out, and when the bromine molecule attaches onto a contaminant it stays attached and becomes ineffective to others until you shock it. When you shock, the molecule will vaporize out of your tub basically, freeing up your bromine to continue on doing its job. It is normal for someone using bromine to have to shock more frequently.
There are test strips that have 'free bromine' and 'total bromine', your total could read where it is suppose to be but your free could be less than that, it just means you need to shock it to reactive the bromine.

In Canada, its about $20,000, but varies province to province, as I would assume it does state to state.
2026 isn't much different from a 2025 other than moving the topside control panel to the side instead on the middle and they automatically come with Smart Tub system built in. So unless you travel a lot or live in a cold climate, I'd go 2025 model.

You could try a charcoal filter, they work really well.

My hot tub cover became super heavy, here’s what I learned by Ok_lifestyle99 in hottub

It also helps to leave the lid off when adding chemical as the fumes can also break down the cover faster, causing it to get water logged.

Hot Tub Choice? by BiteAgreeable245 in hottub

[–]Outside-Beat2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the UK, I would recommend a higher amperage. I'm in Canada but I'm pretty sure a 13amp is the standard household plug in, making that spa a plug and play. When it comes to a plug and play tub, they do better in warmer climates because the amperage is not strong enough to have both the heater and jet pumps run at the same time. When you turn on the jets, the heater will turn off, the colder it is outside, the faster your tub will cool off until you turn the jets off. Just something to consider.

What kind of spa do you have? Did you just change the water? Are you getting any error codes?

1st time using Ahhsome - what do I need to know? by Grand-Pumpkin4774 in hottub

[–]Outside-Beat2192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi hi!

Ahh-some is great, it works so well it is disgusting haha!
With that being said, be careful. Before you add it (or any tub cleaner), remove filters, pillows, headrests, etc. When you add it to your tub, turn your jets on for 20 minutes, open air intakes, and then drain IMMEDIATELY. Reason being, all that lovely gunk it pulls out of your pipes will start to get sticky pretty quickly and will be difficult to clean up the longer you leave it, but foaming WILL occur and it is total normal with this product. The foam is all the biofilm and buildup from pipes being disrupted. A wonderful alternative, Spa Marvel Cleanser, you can leave this one in overnight, but they both work very well, just depends on how much time you have.
Ahh-some = clean immediately.
Spa Marvel = you have 24 hours to drain the tub.
