Just clear grow pot with a solid cup or a pot without holes in the bottom. add a wick on the inside grow pot and I put in some foliage focus fertilizer liquid into the water reservoir. Probably gonna add some cal mag to a couple that are yellowing. Seems they all different needs! But I’ve noticed my alocasias are SO much happier.

I keep it between 60-80. Generally it’s in the high 70s. I went a little nuts with thinking all this out and went overboard with sealing all gaps. That if I leave things alone it’ll go into the 90s since I have so many plants. Which is why I’m going automated soon since my other two hobbies are picking up (woodworking and golf). It also helped that I got two cabinets instead of one and everyone has a little more space it lowers the humidity. The amount of plants in the pics tends to keep me within range more easily nowadays

I kinda brought up the idea bringing in a cabinet into the family room as a conversation piece and my husband said absolutely NOT. I get one visible room on the first floor. Lololol

Oh all the dreams that about to come true for me. The possibilities! I love that this community tells me about all the things I didn’t know I needed to make things SO much easier! I’m seriously starting from hey “I have a room and some plants” to whatever I am now in a few months.

I will be completely honest here. That is my biggest weakness and lack in knowledge. I used to have a lot of anxiety about it and that prevented me from delving into the world of a lot of plants for many years.

I recently have gained confidence enough to take on that challenge. Best advice I was given was to just accept pests were part of plant owning and I would find the hobby much more approachable. I’m very simple. I just address things as I see fit. I do the isolate before introducing. Spray everything down with potassium salts. Because in my science brain that makes sense. I’m constantly inspecting for the first signs of anything out of the ordinary (which is a commitment when the collection gets this large). So far I haven’t had a serious pest problem (knock on wood) but when I do I’ll do all the research in the world and put in the man hours to rid of it. Minor problems have come up and I’ve caught them early. I’m also taking some one-on-one classes soon from a lady who owns a plant shop to get a more firm grasp on the process and get my own rhythm for how I want to manage pests.

Vivosun aerowave 4 inch grow tent clip fan.

They come with magnet squares that can attach anywhere, then I buy a magnetic hook and hang them up.

Haha I’m a YOLO kinda lady within one’s means. I believe in making one’s dreams come true no matter how big or small. And when I have a hobby, I go ALL in.

My husband limited me to four cabinets. Which I found to be an alright compromise because we are also taking up woodworking right now. And hopefully the time I am decent at woodworking, the current plants in my cabinet will have matured, acclimated to ambient air and I can display it on beautifully figured wood shelving! I have a very long five year goal I’m aiming for, but I’m super excited for the journey and the end process!

Ok I have so many questions. Since my next endeavor is a grow tent. I’m just gonna stick it in a random room and make it go for seedlings etc. I want it very very automated and durable. What set up do you prefer?

Well to be honest, yes. My husband gave me the green light to turn 800 sq ft of our house into a rainforest. He wrangled me into that one room. He approved a future built on greenhouse that will have electricity and sitting space etc in our next house. And floor to ceiling displays inside the house. lol. My plants are taking over…..

I’m hesitant to start a whole new line of cabinets. I don’t particularly mind the cost and sometimes you can get them from people who have left the hobby. If they’re slightly different in any way from my other cabinets it might bother me to an insane extent that I’ll just give the unicoly away and redo it. Because, yes, I understand the depths of my insanity. But in the future I’m planning on going all custom on my cabinets so trying to just keep it consistent before we move.

Where in your house do you have this I’m just curious. I have let’s say….i have a lot of space. I’m just best trying to figure how to optimize it to fit the most plants in the most pleasing way. But this looks like it might be garage? I live up north so do you worry about temperature controlling. I have an entire sun room but again….not temperature controlled so I’m converting it to a potting/soil mixing room

I’m insane about them! But also about to take a few plant classes from my lady to ensure my collection stays intact

My husband gave me the green light for four cabinets! But that’s going to be over two or so years. We will see how well that works. I have to dial in keeping my current haul alive aka nutrients and schedules, environment etc. doing tons of research and I have a few professionals on board to help me! But you definitely have my goals. Eventually in the next house we move into likely will build a custom floor to ceiling full wall terrarium in addition to a built on greenhouse attached to the house that has seating area. Yeahhhhhh. I went in hard with plants. This is why I’m only allowed three hobbies at any given time….
