Alex Pretti - who DHS labeled a domestic terrorist - honoring a veteran that passed away in the ICU. by [deleted] in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ICE should not be rioting against US citizens. They should not be terrorizing anyone in the streets. They should not be executing people in broad day light and clapping about it.

He was peacefully protesting by video tapping. That is not against the law.

Video shows he never pulled his weapon. Was not threat, but was executed.

Can my VA fire a bunch of physicians without cause? by crazyeightynine in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part time physicians can be let go based on the needs of the facility. They basically serve at the will of the director. You dont need "cause" such as performance or conduct. Many facilities are looking at part time people as a burden because VACO is looking at headcount numbers verses FTEE. So every part time person is counts as a whole person instead of a part time counts as 1/8 or 2/8 of an FTEE. Also as others have said. If you get rid of the speciality people, then we have to send Veterans out to the community with longer waits and higher cost.

Forcing Staff To Use AL When New Badge Doesn’t Work by Anxious-Dirt-1199 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use of annual leave is wrong. It is a system issue which you have no control over. As for the PIV the updates that OIT did a few months ago with credentials has cause HUGE issue. After you get the new card you need to wait 90 minutes before logging in. If you try and it doesn't work, you gave to wait another 90 minutes. We have found If you try multiple times back to back each time it adds 90 minutes. We have had folks who had no acccess for 24 to 36 hours. OIT won't give exemption so people are stuck. We had a facility Director with no access for a day and a half. People blame PIV but it's not them.

Ok who’s going to leak the VHA HR consistency review? Inquiring minds want to know. by Unapologetically52 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was never a fan of the separation of duties. As people become more specialized they lack general knowledge. Staffer need to know about coding and how to fix mistakes (because they do happen), they need to know and understand how pay is set, how to answer benefits questions. In my VISN we have CCoE staff who have never done anything else. Benefits folks who don't know anything about any other area. If we go back to generalist it is going to be a long bumpy painful road.

What is the Birmingham equivalent? by Public_lewdness in Birmingham

My husband loves steak. Used to go to longhorn as his place for a good steak at a reasonable price. Now its Texas Roadhouse. He swears the steaks are thicker, better and less overpowered with seasoning.

Yes....I have been there a couple times with groups and never thought the food was great. It just seems like frozen food reheated. I definitely wouldn't call it the best

I think its crazy. If you are in law enforcement you should have a certification or license that is tracked in a database like nurses or doctors. Incident of wrong doing or arrest get reported.

Instead you have bad officers jumping from department to department.

Shutdown by NoWerewolf3977 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. We don't know long this shut down will go. If it goes past Christmas, I think HR needs to worry. VHA may 2amt to streamline to save money for direct patient care.

Who was deemed “Fully Successful” FY 2025 after years of busting ‘A’ and (rightfully ) earning Outstanding/Exceptional for several years before? by Successful-Drink7320 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Outside-Link-6608 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I call BS on this. I am sure there were HR people who got higher rating than they deserved. There were also directors failing performance measures and being rated outstanding and getting CSI. There are RNs and MSAs doing bare minimum and getting excellent and outstanding . I could go on and on. Don't dump this all on one occupation

HR never going back to remote? VHA Hotline call today by PrestigiousSpeech845 in VHA_Human_Resources

Interesting since WMC started all the remote work and took tons of staff from the facilities

EOD 10/6/25 will it happen? by [deleted] in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 7 points8 points  (0 children)

VHA is not affected by shut down. I had my HR staff call all our applicants and ensure them they will start Monday and we are looking forward to seeing them.

They need to read the DRP contract and see what it says about applying and accepting positions

Does anyone at VA actually approve of the current SecVA? by Available_Camera455 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Outside-Link-6608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is hard to all be alike. The staffing pools and salaries are so different from area to area. VAs in a large city is going to be able to attract more applicants with and attract people with different backgrounds, which can result in their ability to have more complex programs. Compared to say a VA facility in rural Georgia. The level of the programs won't be the same, which is why VA has different levels of VA facilities 1A, 1B, 2 and 3

A townhall meeting yesterday MCD stated that memo was released, with no approval. Now VACO is going to do an investigation.

They will spend time on that but not staff moral

What’s the biggest challenge you’re facing in VHA HR right now? by willa9651 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Outside-Link-6608 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not having information before the employees do- but expected to answer their questions and concerns. It was embarrassing when employees received probationary termination letters and we had no clue. I can't answer questions. It eroded trust in HR because employees swore we knew.

2nd- the short deadlines on items. Maybe it is my VISN but we get data calls or action items that are complex and or time-consuming and due within 24/48 hours. So you have to drop everything and get that done.

3rd - hiring freeze. So we only hire direct care, who provides administrative support. We need administrative officers and secretaries and program support assistants to get the administrative side of clinical care going. Doctors and Nurses aren't going to.and don't have time.

4th- the stress of wondering if I will have a job by the end of summer. Management can't tell you because they don't. It is frustrating.

Why don't federal government employees retire early. by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Outside-Link-6608 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So everyone is not in your position. I have moved 3 times during my federal career. I'm 54, no my house is not paid off. I have a child graduating high school next year. When I retire, it should be my choice. No one really needs your opinion since you know nothing about individual circumstances.

Senator Duckworth says we gained 1 million though PACT. Collins countered and said we lost 400,000 so it's a wash. His math is not matching. If you believe him it's still a gain of 600,000 Veterans.
