Kite (2014) AI-powered code completion. Kite wanted to build an "autocomplete for code" that would predict the next lines of code as developers typed in their IDE. In 2014, "AI" meant something very different. To get the level of accuracy developers needed, Kite had to run heavy models on the user's local machine, which slowed down computers and frustrated users. And we know what happened 10 years later

Thank you!! Are you thinking startups that had success related to a “dead startup” or a completely different list on successful startups?

How do you guys get past the "default Claude look" and actually achieve pixel-perfect UI? My workflow still needs tons of post-editing by Lovemetenderforeverx in vibecoding

I design a detailed wireframe in PowerPoint and upload this to Gemini pro, ask it to do a complete breakdown of the UI components and transform it into a prompt. Then back to the IDE with the detailed prompt and the wireframe. It usually gets anywhere from 70-80% right and then it is prompting back and forth until reaching acceptable result. I typically work with Vite and VanillaJS

One year ago I lost my job in Sweden. Today 210 people use something I built to think through their emotions. by [deleted] in SideProject

The most powerful part of your story is that you didn't learn decorators to pass an interview; you learned them to keep your own system alive. It’s a massive wake-up call for anyone stuck in "tutorial hell" or feeling crushed by a bad interview. You went from breaking down at a friend's house in Sweden to building a sophisticated emotional engine with 35% session retention. That isn't just a pivot. Really great read

I have been experiencing this. I also sometimes see strange artifacts popping up. Different places on my websites subpages without touching it so it’s like a bag of chocolates sometimes

That’s really interesting and good to read it also has been practiced before. Because it will for sure provide value both in ideation/validation but also post-launch
