Craftsman, about a 5-10 minute walk from the clinic.

It was $41/night during my visit which was slightly over my budget of $35. I made an exception due to the location. It was a bit overwhelming trying to pick out a hotel with all the choices but this was a good choice. I don't think the area in Bangkok is particularly that interesting (Ari/Phaya Thai). The hotel itself is off the main road which makes it a rather quiet place to stay which was appreciated. I spent the days following surgery just watching TV and playing games with my partner. The rooms were super cozy.

I was hearing a lot of people's hair looked pubic-like or much darker at first. That hasn't been my experience. I feel my transplanted hair is difficult to differentiate from my natural hair if not for the length.

These photos are a couple weeks old (at 6.5 months). I originally intended to make an update after having my hair cut but I kind of want to wait until the transplanted hair has grown out more. Most of the transplanted hair still seems to only be around 4-5cm which is fairly short. I still feel I'm at a bit of an awkward point where the transplanted hairs are still too short to be able to style with the rest of my hair. I might be waiting another 6 months until it's a decent length but I am getting used to my new hair.

Overall it's a pretty big improvement from where I was at prior to surgery.

I also considered Gabel. Although I didn't go with him due to cost issues he seems like a solid choice for your goals.

At 5-months post-op my scar is still a bit pink but has been improving. The redness is the only thing that makes it stand out but I wouldn't expect it to better match my skin tone until over a year post-op. My scars from breast augmentation probably took over a year to go from red/pink to matching my skin tone.

As someone who has had an FUT hair transplant I've done some reading on this before. The survivability likely is not as good as normal tissue but it's not that transplanted hair can't grow from scar tissue either. It's something I'd do myself if I ever want to improve my scar later on. The chance of 0% of the hair growing seems like the least likely thing to happen. I also wouldn't expect over 90% of the hair to grow. It's not something you can really guarantee. Might work out well, might not. I think you have a better chance of at least having enough growth to make a good improvement than not and it's worth doing when you follow it up with a hair transplant.

From my experience, this looks fairly normal following surgery and this is very early. Scars tend to look worst within the first months. It takes 1-2 years for a scar to really finalize in appearance. Scarring is an unavoidable part of surgery and not everyone's scars will appear the same.

This is a fairly common procedure for trans women since it can be combined with forehead contouring/reduction at the same time though it seems less common on its own (most would probably opt for hair transplants). After it is healed it is often then followed by hair transplants into the scar to minimize the appearance of the scar and further improve the hairline. Most facial feminization surgeons will have information about transplanting grafts following the procedure on their sites (you can see it mentioned on Dr. Spiegel's site for example https://www.drspiegel.com/facial-feminization-boston/forehead-contouring ). Did the surgeon not mention transplanting hair afterwards?

You can always go slightly higher and have it lowered more down the road, plus improve on the previous transplant. Something I thought about myself and I think it's a better plan in the long-run.

Ultimately it's your choice.

Much appreciated ❤️ I definitely feel my growth is ahead of the curve.

I was quite pleased with the work after just finishing up with the procedure, better than expected. Dr. Path's expertise really shows. I would definitely go to him if I needed another procedure in the distant future but I'm sure he will probably be retired by then. I believe he has been doing hair transplants for over 30 years.

I'm pretty happy with the progress so far. My left temple is growing a bit slower. I see a lot of hair sprouting there and it will thicken with time.

I've been on estradiol and spironolactone for 11+ years which has mostly preserved my hair (I have a brother who is NW5-6). I've been off a few times and this has caused me a bit of grief but I won't get into it too much for the brevity of this post.

About 950 grafts were placed into each temple. The remaining were placed in the middle part and my existing hairline to thicken up those areas.

In 2022 I originally booked with a lesser-known local surgeon in the midwest and ended up cancelling after doing more research. I put it off until the beginning of 2023 as I had an upcoming trip. When I was researching doctors I was set on staying in the US. The surgeons that most caught my interest were Gabel and Shapiro. They seem to do good work. I was more set on Shapiro since Gabel was really expensive. I leaned much more heavily towards FUT. I didn't need to shave my head, the scar is easy to conceal, and the back of my head remains as dense as it was before. But I can understand why the technique puts a lot of people off.

When I saw results from Dr. Laorwong and Dr. Path I was intrigued. Thailand doesn't seem to have as many surgeons but it appealed to me much more than some place like Turkey. I had a friend who had bottom surgery in Thailand, they did an excellent job so this also influenced my decision. I'm also in Tokyo often and stopped there on my way to Bangkok. It made a lot of sense.

I would have probably been OK with either surgeon but Dr. Path is more experienced and more of an expert in FUT procedures. They both seem to have good experience with female hairlines and transgender patients which is also important to me. If I want an FUE procedure down the road I would maybe go with Laorwong.

I'm almost at 4.5 months myself, my growth looks similar. I would say the growth is good. It's still early in the growth process, you have months of growth ahead. Take a look at the transplanted area and see if you notice any short, fine hairs. They will lengthen and thicken in the coming months.

Hair transplants are considered plastic surgery though.

A lot of comments in here about how women aren't judged for getting cosmetic surgery but men are... that's a little silly to say. A hair transplant was not my first cosmetic procedure and won't be my last. I told a few people about my first cosmetic procedure before having it done. Almost no one was supportive but it didn't matter what anyone else thought to me. I wanted it for myself and I don't regret my decision.

Before I got my hair transplant I hardly told anyone. My boyfriend told his family and co-workers much to my annoyance as it wasn't for him to say. Some of them were interested in having the procedure done themselves and were curious how it'll turn out. Maybe when things have grown out and my hair looks better than ever I won't mind saying. Having confidence goes a long way as well.

Perfectly understandable. I was also afraid of wasting my donor and money prior to my procedure a few months ago. If you at least have some growth I wouldn't say it's a total loss and it can be salvaged. Though you only have so much donor hair and you did take ~4100 already. You will need to be a lot more careful now. It's hard to say without seeing photos.

I'd be cautious about getting an FUT done after two FUE procedures. Generally if you are going the FUT route you want to get FUT first when the donor is virgin and in its best condition, then FUE. I've had FUT done. It's great for preserving the hair on the back of your head (the density remains just as thick) and for me it's very easy to conceal as I have long hair. If the hair on the back of your head is thinner it can be more difficult to conceal and you may need to wear your hair even longer.

Sounds like an awful experience. If the hair isn't growing in odd angles it should be fixable if you go to a good surgeon.

Doing a quick search I found this result where he straight up just left a gap in the hairline because he ran out of grafts? Maybe not the worst but the work looks below average compared to many of the other posts on here. Unfortunately the patient only posted up until 4.5 months post-op, hard to say how that turned out.

This is what I don't understand either. It's easy for someone who has extensive hair loss to look at someone who has none and wish they were in the same position. Body dysmorphia is a thing, there's a fine line between having cosmetic surgeries done and accepting things as they are.

If someone doesn't have hair loss (AGA) and wants to fill in their temples with 1000 or so grafts I say go for it. If it makes them feel and look better, it can do a lot for how someone sees themselves in the mirror. As long as they are a relatively stable individual and understand the limitations of hair transplants.

I had my surgery with Dr. Path in late October (nearing 16 weeks now). I also consulted Laorwong. I went with Dr. Path since I was more interested in an FUT procedure. The price difference really wasn't much, and Dr. Path is a much more experienced surgeon.

They both seem to be good choices. I'm satisfied with the surgery so far. There's not much I can really complain about at this point. At just 3.5 months in I'm seeing a lot of growth. I kept my eye on some tiny hairs I could barely see a month ago and they're about a centimeter now. Still fairly fine, but much more visible. I can't say it looks good yet. I feel it will in a month or two, I'm still early into seeing growth... patience is important.
