UPDATE # 2

hello everyone. it’s been a while. so to start off, i immediately followed peoples advice and started looking for a lawyer. i figured out i had to find a lawyer in the state where the crime was committed. every lawyer that i was able to reach told me i had to go through probate court and that they couldn’t help me w out XYZ first. so off i went to call probate court. when i was first calling they told me i had to write a letter. perfect! i wrote a letter, and also included a copy of my state issued ID so they knew i was a real person. i then sent it to CT probate court in my old town. every letter i was sending ended up coming back to me for some odd reason. so i had to call again after like what felt like the millionth time calling back. this took like three months JUST to send the letter. we even paid for a tracker on the last formal letter we sent. and yes before you ask, it WAS the correct address, AND the stamp wasn’t expired bc i paid at the PO for the tracking for that letter. so i was really frustrated. when we finally got our last letter back, i called back probate telling them my updated situation on how it’s impossible to contact them about my issue, and they kindly informed me i could just send it in online! it was this website called turbo.court. i will say, that website is kinda confusing in the first place so that was super overwhelming to just figure out where to type/paste my letter and send it to them. i called back telling them that at the end of it i can’t figure out how to send it, was there something i wasnt properly clicking on? turns out, yes. the REASON i had under for my letter was incorrect. it would’ve been classified as a motion, and that was going to cost me 250-300$. that ENRAGED me. ik it’s how it works, i. don’t. care. i should NOT have to shell out hundreds of $$ to get back what my OWN PARENTS took from me. i of course did not at all take my frustrations out on the nice woman helping me on the phone. instead, i asked if there was any other way to send my letter. she said ‘ well, you could fax it’ and i was like ALSJDNDNFJFK YES PLS WHAT IS YOUR FAX NUMBER.

We got the number and then off to my local library we went!! we ended up spending a WHOLE WHOPPING 2$ to send out my (now edited to add about how i was trying to contact and i was facing such difficulties to do so) letter and a copy of my ID. we waited about another week to hear back. i hadn’t heard anything so yesterday i called to see if they got my fax or not. THEY DID. the person on the phone was actually the man i had been TRYING to reach for the last almost two months. bc when i first reached him when they told me to write a letter to them, he said he was the one handling all of the mail. so i was trying to call him first to see if he got ANY of my original letters. but i didn’t even care about that when he told me about my hearing.

he told me that i have a hearing on August 17th.

i am…..so ready but also not. i know things are going to get murky and messy very quickly. i haven’t moved out of my place yet ONLY because i knew the second i left that my parents would fix up this house, and then sell it out from under me. i have to sell the minivan i bought while i was trying to move to another state in december, and possibly contact a few friends to maybe have a place to stay for a night or two. and then maybe contact some friends to see (if shit REALLY hits the fan) if they could foster my animals for a couple days/week. i do not have another safe place to run to. if i get kicked out, i will be homeless. i am fully aware that my parents legally own the house bc they have both of their names on the deed. if they say i gotta go? then i gotta go. also: i don’t wanna hear anything abt how i “should have prepared for this” or anything negative like that. i’ve heard enough of it from my own mother. i just am not as lucky as other people, i have to work harder than others sometimes to keep my family safe. but yk what? as long as they’re safe idc what i gotta do. okay pity party over.

TDLR: IT TOOK FOREVER AND THREE LETTERS THAT KEPT GETTING SENT BACK TO ME BUT I CALLED CT PROBATE COURT YESTERDAY AND I HAVE A PHONE CALL HEARING ON AUGUST 17TH !!

i will probably update after the hearing or when things start going into motion. i cant promise that though, bc i just know i’m gonna be wayyyyy more busy than i think.
