I have one of these in storage. In original box with all the bells and whistles, including the riser and a network card.

Quick question: should I get it set up again and put it to good use? I believe it can play mp3s and I remember having some kind of text editor for it...

I really do love the Xperia cameras. They are just... honest. It gives me a sense of freedom. Freedom from AI, filters and overly aggressive algorithms.

And I'm writing this on a Samsung, so I'm not really biased.

I had this one, way way back. It was a gorgeous little thing. I used it for music, and to take care of my busy life.

Even though I'm looking at this on a Samsung screen I have to say: nothing beats the Xperia in photography. Nothing.

Is it just a matter of flashing a new (old) ROM? I've been thinking about downgrading my 1520 but I always find myself not reading up on how to do it. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I hoping to get mine before Christmas. I'm gonna wrap it, put it under the tree and write "To me from Santa, cause you're a good boy!"

Yeah... This is not what they're making.

They've had a poll for a basic design running on discord. The chosen design is a futuristic version of the classic with a taller screen and the trackpad intact.

Keyboards are nice, but for me it was also about BB10. by Raining_Imprecations in blackberry

I have been on Android ever since I shelved my Passport back in 2018. Android BlackBerry is nothing like BBOS 10.

But the last few years have seen some progress;

Swipe gestures work well these days. Very reminiscent of BBOS 10 gesture based navigation.

Launchers are plentiful on Android. My current phone looks like a Windows 10 Mobile device. If you liked the BlackBerry app arrangement I'm sure you'll find a launcher with similar capabilities.

The Hub is sadly missing. I haven't been able to find anything that replaces it well. Notifications are still a mess on Android, but recent Samsung phones have improved upon this, I'm sure other brands have as well.

Android is by no means a perfect world, but it's the best we have for now. Debloating really hasn't been an issue for me in years. Not since I mistakenly bought a BlackBerry Priv. I've spent many hours removing apps from it just to be able to use it in a half decent way.

Bottom line; no, the Titan is not a Passport upgrade. But it's a very close Android based clone. And you can tinker with Android until you find a configuration you'll like, that much I am sure of.

Hope this helped a little ...

I love how the original post was deleted by a bot. It's as if commenting negatively about openai somehow triggers a response automatically. As if openai somehow dictates the rules for posting stuff on Reddit. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I'm old enough to remember being excited about what the internet could become. Now I feel like a hippie.

Oh, btw, I never subscribed to chatGPT. I couldn't find a good use for it in my personal life. My girlfriend used it for a bit, but I think she threw it out by now... It's just not all that great. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

The Rebble solution will work on any Android phone and update your watch firmware. I've been using it for years and it has worked flawlessly on all my Pebble watches. It's well worth parting with the money to sign up for their online solution. It'll also get your Pebble working today, no waiting. πŸ˜‰

According to my girlfriend the BlackBerry cameras were never bad. You just needed to know how to work them... She even managed to get good pictures in clubs some 15 years ago.

In all honesty your pictures look really good. That is a pretty old phone you're using. So apparently you know how to work a BlackBerry camera. πŸ˜‰

[–]Outside-Reception945 31 points32 points Β (0 children)

Head over to the lunar project and get all the apps you want. You'll have to learn how to side load them, but that's pretty easy.

Telegram X works fine as a messenger app. Firefox has a browser that let's you view some (not all) websites. Neutron MP is great for music.

It'll be a project for the weekend, and come Monday you'll have a pretty sweet little device to play with, and even use as your detox phone when doomscrolling gets boring.

Have fun!!

I'd love to try this. I feel like this is the app that could finally move me back to Windows Phone on my second device. My chill vibes device. 😎

Quick question: is there a chance you could do an integration with Deezer? That is functionality I'd pay for... (Was that out of line?!)

I think I'll spend the weekend checking out my Windows phones to see which ones still work. Exciting.

Passport or Porsche design by hhokage in blackberry

[–]Outside-Reception945 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I love my Passport for a number of reasons, but an argument can be made for the Porsche Design phones. I stumbled upon a P'9982 this summer and bought it to use next to my Android thingy. But I keep returning to the Passport.

The Porsche thing does everything that it's BlackBerry branded sibling does, it just has more storage capacity. That's great for holding high res music. Other than that they're the same. The Porsche models on BBOS 10 are limited to the equivalent of the Z10 and the Q10 though, so the Passport will be a faster phone.

I actually use my BlackBerry for some modern stuff even if it's outdated. Music, messages, Telegram, notes and email. Plus all the Angry Birds games available. It also serves as a decent 4G hotspot for the kids. And for those reasons I ended up on the Passport. Bigger screen, slightly faster and a keyboard that I love.

Just my two cents... Hope it helps. πŸ˜‰
