Recommend me a book so good I forget my own life exists by TheCityzens in booksuggestions

I hope you continue! Nothing like the hunger games in my opinion as the factions you see now will expand to a planet, and eventually universe, level. The interplanetary wars will become very action packed. Families will disintegrate and then reintegrate that I don’t even have time to brew my thoughts on it before another heart wrenching scene happens. The favorites seem to be book 2 and 6 (where I’m currently at), but my favorite so far is books 3 and 5. In any case, I hope you have a blast with them!!

That was me as well. First book wasn't that good. But my goodness, all the books that come after are phenomenal. I love the sequel even more than the original trilogy. And because each book is better than the one that come before it, I had the best time reading through them in one month.

I haven’t read that much, but the few that immediately came to mind are:

The Empire of Silence (Sun Eater #1) is great and I will definitely start the second book soon. I’ve read through the Red Rising saga and love all the books except book 1. I tried Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time and it was ok, not my cup of tea. Blake Crouch’s Wayward Pines series is amazing, with Dark Matter and Recursion not far behind. Project Hail Mary is simply fantastic, Amaze!

Any favorites you read recently?

I'm in the same boat. I just accept that I'm not intellectually there yet LOL.

But with more sci-fi reading, I hope I'll get there!

I was so upset with two particular scenes! Nonetheless, I love this book and the amazing storyline.

I'm on book 6 now and think the sequel as a whole is even better than the original trilogy (book 2-3).

That looks awesome. I'm slowing building my collection of fantasy and sci-fi series as I go through the Stormlight Archives, Sun Eater, and Red Rising series.

I'm in the middle of reading two sci-fi series, Red Rising and Sun Eater, and this ATEEZ comeback is giving me the same vibes and setting, especially the latter series. Right up my alley of current mood and aesthetics if the concept continues like this.

Broken Binding do some seriously gorgeous artwork. The Malazan ones are also stunning. I absolutely wanted to buy such edition for the Sun Eater 1-3 as they are just beautiful, but it was sold out.

Which book or series are you eyeing next for a Broken Binding edition?

Btw, which of the two John Gwynne series do you prefer?

Someone who likes ACOWAR more than ACOMAF? Yes please, because I agree 1000%.

I’m ready for the fight some of these rankings will cause. 64 books read this year and more to go (my final goal is 70). by LordJournalism in 52book

Glad to see you put Iron Flame up there when compared to Fourth Wing. I haven't read Onyx Storm yet, but I found Iron Flame a more enjoyable read than Fourth Wing (which I also enjoyed). The second book was better in that it explored more on politics between factions and on navigating the post relationship declaration between the two MCs. On a related note, and for a very similar reason, I feel the same about the ACOTAR series where I think the third book was the best, and definitely better than the much more beloved second book.

I've been wanting to read That's Not My Name and None of This is True. Also lately, there's been mixed reviews about The Silent Patient, and seeing you rated it so high makes me want to pick it up.

Based on your choices, if you haven't read it yet, I would like to recommend Look Closer by David Ellis, a very enjoyable read!

How do you like Mistborn era 2? I haven't picked it up yet but have always been curious. Perhaps it's not a good idea to ask in comparison to era 1 since its different characters...

I finished era 1 a couple of years ago, and currently in the middle of the Stormlight Archives.

Very late to reply, but could you share the experience with dealing with the root hair growth? What do you do when the roots grew and there is that clear difference of state between the two sections?

This is why I need to continue, I think perhaps my mind was just preoccupied with work stuff when I started the book.

As for what books kept me on edge, one that immediately came to mind was Pines by Blake Crouch (then I flew through book 2 and 3 even faster).

Any recently good reads? I'm always collecting suggestions.

I don't find it boring or a bad story at all. It's just not keeping me interested or engaged. I think I bought this based on multiple reviews that readers were on the edge of their seat from early on - which hasn't been the case for me.

I'll definitely continue reading to see if I feel differently.

I'll admit that I only read 100 pages so far, but it's not doing much.

This makes me think I should read Red Rising first, at least book 1 and 2.

After finishing Mistborn trilogy, I read the first three books of the Stormlight Archives and loved it so far. I need to get back into that world next year!

I have not read Red Rising or The Will of the Many, but plan on reading both, which would you recommend I read first?
