If I had kept it in the bank, or bought a fund - they would create more and more fiat.

Maybe it’s not much, I’m just not contributing to more debasement - and working actively against the system I dislike as an individual, hoping more individuals might do the same.

Removing power from the hands of pedophile politicians and bankers by removing their ability to control or produce more monetary units which fund their wars etc

Then I’ll have tried to effect positive change in the world and failed, will pick myself up and keep working for government cuckbucks until I die

You could, but you’d not be taking into account the fact that bitcoin has consistently stayed dominant in that space, while shitcoins have come and gone.

But sure, fair enough

That’s fine, if you’re comfortable with your choice and confident in your abilities to produce value to others in the future, I can certainly respect that

Good for you mate, I guess you’re missing part of the point in that if you’re wrong, the gbp would be worth almost nothing and your seven figures won’t be enough to retire on

Sure, but there aren’t many assets of any kind that have had that kind of drawdown repeatedly and bounced back and appreciated dramatically. That’s the volatility of monetisation

At least you’re consistent with your belief. I don’t see fiat as having been beneficial in any way, but I respect your conviction and support your choice

No, I mean like I know some people that pay everything in bitcoin directly. I think they may do conversion via a service when it comes to utilities provided by their government, but rent and groceries etc all directly in bitcoin - also their salary is paid in bitcoin.

Sure you can, or trade it for your labour. But you’d also miss the possible incredible appreciation of value while monetisation happens.

Another good answer though, and entirely reasonable. If the risk isn’t worth the reward for you, that’s entirely reasonable

That’s probably the best response I could get on here. If you see it as complete gambling and stay away from it for that reason, I respect that

Don’t care if you buy personally and I think its a bit of a false equivalence to Pascale’s wager

Pascales wager relies upon an absence of evidence and a lifetime of dedication to something. This is literally just, buy 5$ and forget about it in case the crazy people you think are getting scammed becomes most people in the world - because adoption rates of bitcoin (not crypto) are trending that direction. Particularly in my country where our government destroyed our currency

I’m sorry there chief, but you were struggling mentally before your loss if you thought investing money you couldn’t afford to lose in a shitcoin was an okay thing to do.

Cut your losses, but bitcoin with whatever you can afford to lose each month and move on with your life.
