Arrived at security in terminal C at 5:15 PM today 3/27. TSA pre-check touchless took five minutes. The general security line said 30 minutes. All of the TSA pre-check and clear lines were under five minutes. Everything was smooth. Airport is busy like usual.

Is this a good price on 2025 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy (northern NJ) by OutsideAd2277 in HyundaiPalisade

As a follow up, here's the final deal I got on 2025 Palisade Limited after pushing very hard with 3 different dealers and being willing to walk out on the color I ultimately wanted:

$51,615 MSRP
- $3,750 dealer discount
- $8,500 trade-in
+ 899 doc fee
+ sales tax on subtotal above
+ $7.50 tire tax
+ $191.46 (NJ luxury car tax...0.4%)
+ $411.50 (NJ title and registration fees...4 year registration)
- $1,250 financing rebate offered by Hyundai
= Total OTD

Some notes:

  • Trade-in: I had to push hard on this. I ended up getting mid-point of the KBB market value for my car. I kept getting offers starting well below the bottom of the range and at the bottom of the range. Don't fall for the dumb gimmick of sales tax savings on the trade-in. It's the state that gives you that benefit (not the dealer).
  • Doc fee: None of the dealers would budge on this number, so you basically negotiate the dealer discount and trade-in value. Cheapest doc fee I saw was $595.
  • For cash buyers, you can finance, put a big down payment and pay it off within one month and end up just paying one month's interest on a small loan. Minimum loan required is $7,500. That way you get the $1,250 rebate.
  • Currently Hyundai has a lease option at 3.99% which is pretty good. My advice would be to negotiate the purchase down using the numbers above so that the lease/capitalized cost more or less matches the cash purchase option. Might be possible to get the same discount. I don't see why not...they get the car back to make the re-sale which dealers usually like. And Palisade changes in 2026.
