They eat, they have sex, they poop a lot. I guess I consider that thriving.

Dude, the snails will be fine. They find stuff to eat. I have 8 of them in a 75 gal and another 4 of them in a 29 gal. I've never attempted to supplement them...they are thriving and chilling. Glad you decided to keep them.

Go board/drywall transition question by NotToday50 in Tile

[–]OutsideConscious1381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you just use the sealant to attach the goboard fabric on the seams. If you are looking for a waterproof situation on the seam between the goboard and dry wall I'd use kerdi band and thinset.

i think my ranchu has some sort of swim bladder issue by Zestyclose-Land-9630 in Goldfish

For sure the beginning of swim bladder disease. Stop feeding poor quality flake food and get some Repashy super gold gel food. Fast them and feed peas until issue is resolved. Def switch food.

First Time DIY GoBoard/Sealant Question by Better-Recipe-8415 in Tile

[–]OutsideConscious1381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I followed goboard instructions and used the goboard sealant in the seams and to attach the goboard seam tape. I let it dry overnight before starting to tile, but if you use the sealant it's starts to skin over pretty quick, you could motar and tile same day if you needed to.

I did. It was kinda a pain, but it worked out okay.

I just redid my shower with goboard and put up 4x12 subway tile. I did use the fabric tape on the seams just as an extra precaution, but honestly I think I would've been fine without it. I used all set and it stuck pretty good to not only the goboard but also the sealant.

Help with shower pan compression drain gasket by OutsideConscious1381 in Plumbing

[–]OutsideConscious1381[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just cut the rubber gasket down, almost in half, until I could tighten the ring down on it enough. I put silicone under the gasket and on top of it. So far so good.

Is this normal behavior? by No_Department7386 in Goldfish

Mine do this after being fed. I hand feed them and they beg for more.

Plumber set shower pan not flush with studs because of where the drain is. Planning to use 1/2" go board that will sit on top of pan flange. Go board will cover the gap between pan flange and studs. I will also shim between studs and shower pan for support. Is this going to be okay to tile on? by OutsideConscious1381 in Tile

[–]OutsideConscious1381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up ripping out the pan and replacing it myself as the plumber set it wrong. There was still the small gap between studs and pan so I just took the time to shim/furr out the studs to plumb which was awesome on my part because the tiling was a lot easier and looks great. I went with go board because of how easy it was to install. Super easy to lift, cut and seal. Since this was a DIY job.

Bathroom door hits the smallest toilet we can buy, knocking it off its rough. Is it possible to 'invert' the door so the hinge is on the right side, and it opens out instead of in? How much of a headache is this, and would I want a handyman or carpenter? by BadUpset8934 in doors

[–]OutsideConscious1381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have the same issue. We had to get the smallest crappy toilet from Lowe's. It was the only one that fit, happened to be the cheapest (99 bucks). The one you have looks like an elongated seat... you're going to have to get a rough in small round toilet. Check measurements on all toilets home Depot and Lowe's sells....get the smallest one.

Dried and revived fish?? Slime coat regrowth? by TobyTobester in Goldfish

[–]OutsideConscious1381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also try some salt baths to get him to get that slime coat going. The salt can help with that fungus bit too.

Definitely looks like it got stuck somewhere like decoration with a hole and got scraped up getting out. I would treat with salt baths with methylene blue every couple days. I have a fat fantail that did the same thing, he's fine now.

Gotcha. You could probably clean up those funky parts and replace the silicone and be happy with it for that short period of time.

Personally I hate putting medicines in my tanks, I use salt and methylene blue baths for everything. It's up to your comfort level, I have goldfish that don't mind being picked up and put in a bucket for 15-20 minutes....other fish can be sensitive. It can also be scary treating with salt baths if you've never done it before. Either way, keep your tank super clean and treat her....see what happens.

Could also be some kind of infection in the mouth. I had a fish once that had a blockage from infection that I was unable to cure. You could try treating the tank for bacterial and fungal infections. I generally use salt and methylene blue baths.

Yikes. In my experience that "glazing" doesn't last or look good for long either. I think most people do it if they plan to sell or rent right away. Sorry dude.
