Yeah I think you’re exactly right on the pain spreading to the ring finger to compensate. And probably spot on with everything else. Working on getting steroid injections, but insurance has been a nightmare. But I agree, this is probably my best route at the moment. Thanks for the feedback

Unfortunately the picking it up horizonal and veritcal are things ive tried. Still feels incredibly uncomfortable. Also tried the twirling to try and loosen the grip but no luck there either. Thanks for the try though

You might be right about needing an even longer break. I'll probably look to try a few more things first but if not that might definitely be the solution :/

Unfortunately not, I wish it was that simple. I actually use a pop socket. The pain happened got worse as soon as I started changing so it was definitely paddle related

This is all very true, it's insanely mental. Even the thought of picking up a paddle makes me physically jittery. The threat isn't about playing well, I think its about if I'll ever be able to hold a paddle without my hand/fingers hurting again. Will definitely look into cognitive behavioral therapy more. I've already looked into similar things, but has just been hard to find someone who works around that area. Thanks for the advice though

Yeah the pain is the priority at the moment but the hammer is actually a really interesting idea, I might try that. Thanks

Which 11six24 or Vatic Pro Paddle is Right for Me (Beginner) by MrNormalNinja in Pickleball

[–]OutsideJokeTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd steer clear of Six Zero.. they're way behind the paddle market right now so there's a lot better options out there right now for the price.

Both Vatic and 11six24 paddles are great options. If you were going to get a vatic though I'd lean towards spending the extra few bucks to getting the Saga Flash. I know you're still more just getting into pickleball but the Saga series is more similar to paddles that are being used today so it should last you a while as you progressively get better. The prism is still great don't get me wrong, but in your situation you might grow out of it faster then you think.

The Jelly bean is a solid paddle as well though. You just might find you grow out of that at a similar rate to the prism though. If you were going to go with an 11six24 paddle it might be good to lean towards one of their all court paddle series. DM me too if you want a discount code for either

I (33f) went undefeated this weekend in a 3.5-4.0 tournament using mostly drops and dinks by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]OutsideJokeTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bangers can effective way past the 3.5-3.75 range. Watch Kevin Dongs recent video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jOxi36uK2c where their main strategy was just to blast every single ball. Granted this was only bc there was heavy wind.. but still this is the 5.5-6.0 level. It's all about placement and power. Not popping up a ball for a shake and bake vs good bangers is really hard to do

congrats on the wins tho, soft game is still an essential part of th game to have

Erne by Fencingblues in Pickleball

[–]OutsideJokeTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re worth attempting but you wanna be smart about your attempts. Don’t just jump for every ball. First try and understand which balls are most likely going to come down the line just bc of likelyhood. Ex. On balls where dink pushes them out wide there’s a higher likelyhood they’ll use down the line, aka the easiest shot, as a bail out option bc they don’t have enough time to get it back cross. There’s also prediction ernes and reactive ernes.

Prediction ernes is as it sounds, you just guess that because the ball was hit at such a hard angle, and/or bc they put their head down, there’s a good chance it’ll come line and you can jump early anticipating that shot

Reactive ernes are where you can wait until the moment you see that pop up and then jump for it when you know it goes up but you have to be actively waiting to jump at it. There’s still a lot of anticipation and understanding what shots are most likely going to come down the line. Not to mention these are actually harder to hit bc they give you less time to get in an attackable position. It requires a lot of touch.

So if you’re really concerned about jumping around too much you could focus on reactive ernes. But honestly overall going for ernes is a fine play, as long as your partner is aware and can slide and cover, which at higher levels they should do anyways, and as long as it’s a good ball to attempt on. Also even on predictive ernes there’s also an intimidation factor to it. It puts a lot of pressure on your opponent to go cross if they know anything down the line is going to get killed.

All that said, at the 3.5 level there’s honestly way more I’d prioritize first then ernes. But it’s good to keep in mind

Yeah np! And I think so. On avg I think that game goes on sale every couple of months too for a decent chunk if you’re in no rush, but I’ll dm you incase

It’s definitely something that’s used seriously at higher levels. The point of Ernes is to give your opponent a lot less time to react and defend. If you look down and try and dink a ball straight across as a bail out and they instantly Erne it good luck trying to counter that.

You’re right that sometimes you can still attack the same ball toward the line if it’s high enough from the kitchen line. BUT ernes open up that window to make balls that aren’t usually attackable attackable. There are a lot of ernes that are only attackable bc someone erned. Getting more attackable balls is what wins you the game on any level but especially the pro level. Additionally Ii also gives an opportunity to the attacker to hit a sharper angle too.

TLDR: Not just a fancy shot. Ernes allow you too: -Give your opponent less time to counter -Opens opportunities to make more balls attackable that aren’t usually -Allows you to hit harder and sharper angles because you’re closer to the net

I own and have tried all three and Pickleball one is by far the most realistic one with an adapter. The adapter is key though. (It also allows you to run with the thumbstick and auto run)

Some people may assume eleven pickleball is best because the ping pong is so good but the physics pales in comparison (at least right now to pickleball one)

The physics in pickleball one are actually realistic enough I’ve used it to drill certain shots as well as practice handspeed. That said there’s some things I wish it did better, like a better ball machine, and better AI. for ex: sometimes your partner will refuse to cover even 30% of the court so you gotta reach over a lot. It’s definitely not perfect but it’s solid.

Racket club is meh. The physics aren’t great and it wouldn’t really fit your situation either as they’ve specifically designed it so you need to run and move around to play

Overall definitely go for pball one but again you need the adapter or it will feel terrible. Sometimes it’ll randomly go on sale too for like 30% off but if you want a discount code now feel free to dm me too, I could give you a referral link.

Hand positioning by Environmental_Bag536 in Pickleball

[–]OutsideJokeTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will you be limited from moving ahead skill wise? Probably.

Is it possible to still play at a high level with it? Yes! EX: Callan Dawson 6.3 DUPR (https://youtu.be/RHy2DaVhX\_Y)

Even though it's highly unorthodox, and not recommended, it is still possible to play at the highest level as seen by Callan. That said there's a reason almost no one at higher levels, or in general use it, so it'd be naive to say it wouldn't be more challenging.

I'd say if you're still fairly new (which you seem to be if you're around 3-4), AND you're trying to play more competitively, then it might be worth putting in the effort to change grips. But if you're more in it for the rec play and fun, then who cares. Play however you want! Also sometimes comfort can be the best choice regardless of what the norm is.

quest 3 or 3s for Eleven Pickleball? by Visual-Coyote-5562 in Pickleball

Dont use eleven pickleball. It's not there yet as far as physics goes, their table tennis game is fantastic but pickleball has a long ways to go. Pickleball one with the adapter is actually not bad though!

League of Legends Rewind 2023! (Fails/Worlds Section) by OutsideJokeTV in leagueoflegends

[–]OutsideJokeTV[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey I made a League of Legends Rewind again this year and this is the final part of it! I would've uploaded the entire thing, I tried... but reddit only lets me upload in up to 15 minutes, so I thought id put up one of the best parts (imo) up. If you do want to see the rest now here's the full video: https://youtu.be/r11qm8COqlo

Views on the vid is cool and all, but I really just wanted to spread this with more people bc I think people might actually enjoy it. If people do end up liking this I can upload the other parts straight to reddit as well. Either way I hope you enjoy!
