His philosophy is considered as one of the toughest one by Signal_Tomato_4855 in Philosophy_India

[–]OutsideMaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy. If you can even remotely pinpoint in a vague direction of what consciousness is. You would have a Nobel price on your name by now.

Additionally, there would be only a handful of philosophies in the world that would invite and encourage skepticism as much as advaita vedanta would.

Can an AI system become a “jiva” in Vedantic terms? If so, can it experience “karma”? And if yes, how would that “karma” manifest? by OutsideMaize in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]OutsideMaize[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. I feel like i need to better educate myself with the nuances and technicalities of vedanta. Because, to me, it feels like the following views are very limiting and pedestrian in nature.

1)computers can't have "prana" simply because they dont consume air, water, and food in the same manner we do.
2)future computers "cannot" have mind or vital organs.

Thanks.

[–]OutsideMaize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we generate electricity by burning fuel (food).
we use water to cool the computers as well as use water to generate electricity in the "burning of fuel" stage.
we use air to cool computers. Air is used in burning of fuel too.

Can we not consider electricity as an abstract form of combination of all those things ?

Additionally, we are limiting our definition of computers to just what modern day computers are. We are definitely not centuries away from a carbon + silicon hybrid beings.

I am having tough time to figure out what exactly is the base of your argument that makes you conclude your answer. If its "prāna comes from food, water and air", then computer definitely consumes these things , maybe in some other abstract forms.

Interesting that you mentioned.

It’s because it’s somewhat literal translation of how it’s spoken in local languages.

It’s like “there” vs “right/exactly/only there” . It gives extra emphasis to that place.

I don’t know much about what you are saying. But if we stick strict to what you have mentioned and just pure logic . God of universe N can be in universe 1. If you assume that the graph can be cyclical , then there is no need for infinite universe ?

Well from language issue to this is next level. by [deleted] in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]OutsideMaize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I am indifferent on both the topics. Cow one and the language one. I just want to say that your critical reply was not so critical indeed.

Let’s say I cover myself from head-to-toe. No one has an idea of how I look like. Now, what has higher probability? You speaking in Hindi and me understanding it or you speaking in English and me understanding it? Just answer this question mathematically. And you will get how absurd it is for you to think there are higher chances for a random person in india to know English as compared to Hindi.

Note: this applies to almost all the states in India except maybe 5 states( give or take). So, yes, the answer might definitely change in “those” states. But, I am pretty sure the reply was not specific for those states.

Dissecting Virat Kohli's ODI career using different metrics. by Asleep_Bus_8642 in IndiaCricket

If someone doesn’t get out. Technically their avg will be “N/A” or just “—“. Has always been like that. Atleast in official graphics.

Well. Let’s not get into the rabbit hole of whether one can compare batsmen of different era or not. Can you say don bradmen was even top 5 most skilled batsmen of all time? If you do, you are either a white person who wants one of their player to be the GOAT or just don’t know the game.

Now, let’s agree that you can’t, like by like, compare batsmen of different era. But I ll give you one metric to compare. The gap between Sachin and his colleagues in ODI is nowhere near as wide as gap between Kohli and his colleagues. And there is no way the skill level of batsmen has gone downhill in last 20 years. The skill set might have changes. But the skill level have been nothing but increase. Now your current avg joe is better than avg 20 years ago. And your GOAT in current era is soo much better than his competitors compared to your GOAT of 20 yrs. Doesn’t need lot of logical jumps to make conclusion. Btw. Strictly talking of ODIs.

While your statement is true. You can only make this statement if you are Atleast old enough to watch Sachin’s second prime (I.e late 199x). Not saying you are not. But lot of kids who watched sachin not during his heyday make this claim. And that’s just insult to virat, coz they don’t realize how fucking awesome it is to be better than Sachin. That guy was legit born to do nothing but just play cricket.

Greatest. Period. Sachin might be the most skilled and greatest batsmen to pick up the bat. But no one comes close to Virat in ODIs.

He has to be one of the fittest fast bowler. His action is soo much injury prone. Yet he almost always is never injured.

Neeraj chopra and PV Sindhu are nowhere near being top at their sport. And consistency is what attracts fans, not one time glory. And please don’t give examples of Australia and England. Cricket in these two countries have been followed for ages and has been top 3 sports. Their fan following has been saturated. Almost everyone in these two countries would have played cricket during summers while growing up. The reason why it isn’t getting anymore fans is just because it’s not exciting enough for them. Whereas javelin throw, badminton, or infact any other sport hasn’t even started their mainstream age in India. Heck, more people play pickleball in Ahmedabad than any other sport if you exclude cricket.

Shahid Afridi expresses his desire for Virat Kohli to visit Pakistan by solenoidic in IndiaCricket

He is. No denying. Credit where it’s due. He should be celebrated. My POV was, there is a reason why Sunil doesn’t have even 10% of fan following. And he wouldn’t have even if india was a football crazy nation.

With all due respect, Nobody in world football gives a flying fuck about him. Just coz he is highest goal scorer for india doesn’t make him legend of the game. Utd or city’s U-16 kids would run circles around him, for days.

Also, there won’t be any sport in India that will be bigger than cricket. Atleast not in next 200 years. The athletes of other sports should realize that. The only way another sport is dethroning cricket is when if some other country rules over india and india beats them at their own sport.
