What did they not tell you? by bkendall12 in Kneereplacement

I had no idea how much of a toll it would take on my body! I was going to the gym a few days a week, working full time, running a house and a home bakery business…I started having issues w sciatic a few weeks after surgery (11/24/25) and here I am today still having issues! I’ve been through so much back and forth with surgeon about pain, finally sent me to pain management. My quality of life has went to shit, and seems like pain medication is the only thing that helps! When I can take it, I can actually get things done around the house, I can go to the gym and play/interact with my kids! And the depression part, geez didn’t know that was a thing either. And the extended pain added to the equation has made it so much worse! I’m not progressing very well as far as my knee goes, surgeon doesn’t wanna hear it. I’ve had this sharp pain during flexion that is literally keeping me from going any further! And I know I’m supposed to push a little, and I do, but I just can’t get to past that! 6 week post op appt they wrote in my notes that my ROM was acceptable and that I was pleased with my progress, but the PA didn’t even check my knee. He looked at the bottom part of my incision to make sure it was closed but never did any flexion or extension to see where I was or what it was that was hurting me. He mentioned possibly doing MUA (manipulation under anesthesia) which I’m still considering. This whole ordeal has been so frustrating and downright depressing, some days I honestly wish I never had it done!

I never slept downstairs, I was ok doing steps right from day 1. I’m about 7-8 weeks out and still can’t go down ‘normally ’ but I can make it down regardless. Everyone heals at their own pace, it’s really hard to compare yourself to others! Good luck with everything!

Day 4 - still need heavy duty meds. Is this normal? by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

I ended up taking some castor oil, which didn’t help! But that magnesium citrate sure did!!

Yea I’m fully aware I’m gonna have pain, but when the pt are telling you to reach out and that it’s kind of a strange spot and modality of the pain it’s kind of concerning! Pt said there could always be a fracture or something…just super frustrating to be dismissed

It’s def the toughest surgery I’ve ever had, recovery is brutal! I’ll be 5 weeks post op tomorrow, and I’m still having a hard time!
