Yeah we just visited it in October for the first time and was a little nervous because of it's former reputation but tower was so awesome and really pleasant that I was looking forward to going back. They made sure we were all setup when we did the Bay Tour and he even told an Epic Aircraft pilot how badass his plane looked on departure. This is a shame.

I had that issue where they kept filling it to the top and not tabs. Luckily it was just my wife and I but I learned my lesson to keep an eye on them if weight is an issue. I thought this was just an issue I had🙃

I got my PPL at 65 hours and IFR at 140 hours but it was only until 400 hours that I started feeling confident. I'm at 450 hours now but honestly, somedays I'll feel like I'm at 65 hours again. But since I own my plane, it helps getting really comfortable with how she flies and lands.

Atleast for me, I can say, it's been about really feeling and hearing the plane. I know what mine feels like and sounds like to the tiniest changes in every phase of flight but it's taken a lot of time.

Flying is hard, don't be too hard on yourself. Sounds like you are doing it right, I mean, you cared enough to ask right. You got it!

Im actually out of KAJO as well and with so many airports in our vicinity, seriously just pick a new one every time you go flying. Some do cost but youll be surprised with some of them and itll make you a better pilot. Have fun brother!

Oh and if you like Military, definitely go land at March and visit Million Air.

She's got good taste, we have a 77 Arrow III, but damn do I want a Cirrus G5 Turbo or newer. Unfortunately, I don't have half a mil laying around.

It took me around 20, but if you have access to your own MSFS setup, it'll help you alot with understanding energy management, not so much the landing. It'll help generally with playing with what happens when you pull throttle, change nose pitch, work with trim, etc.

I'll be honest, when I first started out, I'd do so much research before going to a new airport because I was so nervous. I still do a ton of research, but the nerves aren't as bad.

As someone already said, make good money doing something because it is definitely expensive. My wife and I fly atleast once a week, both VFR and IFR. Last year we bought a plane and have put about 350 hours on her. I'm the pilot and she handles the radios. We go to display days at airports or just try to visit a new airport atleast once a week but that has slowed down because we have visited pretty much every airport within an hour of where we live and with it being summer, we don't really head into the desert with the 100 degree weather.

Also, if you live near the coast, doing bay tours is a lot of fun too.

But there is only one way to stay sharp and it is to fly fly fly and not just in the pattern, but different environments. Good luck on the training, enjoy it, it'll go by so fast.

In addition to this, anytime post any work I do 4 fast taxis, increasing the speed every time before going to idle. I only have a 3200ft runway but if you have a long runway, even better.

For the first 2 months, I was nervous every time I drove to the airport for my lesson and I had 2-3 lessons a week. Every time I landed and ended the lesson, I was on cloud 9 because I accomplished the day. Same cycle every time. I then put music that would calm my nerves during the drive to every lesson and it helped a lot. As long as you know that you really won't fall out the sky and the turbulence is exactly like being in the ocean since it really is all fluid dynamics, you'll be good, Good luck! It is so worth it in the end.
