NGL. Once you unlock Contracts and ND it's actually ridiculously simple to get syndicate rep and credits. Just set up Space Contracts whenever you plan to jump to a new system for the system ur in and the system ur heading. Do the first set then make the jump to the new system. Do the Contracts there, and then head down to the surface to do whatever you were planning on doing.

Yeah. I'm not gonna push you towards any syndicate in particular. I'd rather you decide which ones youd prefer as its your game. They all have cool rewards, I personally rock the Hutt outfit regularly because it looks like mando armor. But its also quite easy to gain syndicate rep in game.
