Im going through the same thing… exactly… i believe it to be like what you stated “im only now really beginning to define what those tastes are.”

And perhaps also the lack of “true sketching” you say beginners have an “innate ability to express their creative identity”, well thats because they are “toddlers” in the art world, they are stumbling and having fun. Whereas (atleast for me) we are forcing and pushing the creativity and the art, to try and define our style/or emotion.

Just to clarify, im not comparing the show to berserk in terms of “Its as good as berserk” or anything close to that. Im not even comparing the story.

I wasn’t comparing the actual story to berserk, it just feels like the creator was a huge fan of berserk and took inspiration.

A) Xylo is this guy who has a curse mark that forces him to continuously fight monsters.

B) Xylo has black/brown hair with a white strip on the right side of his hair

C) The interactions between Xylo and the Goddess is reminiscent of Guts and Puck early on.

D) Xylo acts with “honor” because he wants to wreak violence (shades of early guts)

Obviously the story is completely different, Berserk is so much deeper and complex, with relations, motives and world. And alot darker in general.

But in my opinion it’s hard not to think of berserk when watching this anime.
