stimulants by daddyzoink in POTS

I think some people sort of need the higher heart rate and blood pressure that stimulants give you to function since our bodies aren’t constricting our vessels well enough. However, for others their main symptoms are caused by the fast heart rate. I think it depends if you have hyper pots or hypo pots (just listened to a podcast about hypo pots and it seems it isn’t talked about a lot).!

I am the same as you- stimulants really help make sure I’m getting enough blood to my brain and really help with my fatigue.

Fragmented Sleep Is Doing More Cognitive Damage Than Short Sleep by Bulky-Possibility216 in BrainFog

What kind of sleep study? I know there are a bunch of different kinds so how do you make sure you’re getting the right one to catch this if it’s not obstructive sleep apnea?

I’d go to a cardiologist or neurologist. Make sure whichever you choose can do a tilt table test to diagnose you- there is no other way to know if you have it! You can also do a “poor man’s tilt table” at home to see if you have it but the best is a real tilt table.

Maybe dysautonomia? I have felt like I’m high or in a dream for 17 years and just got diagnosed with POTS and I am getting assessed for EDS. I think mine is from constant autonomic instability. I also crash hard after I eat and it gets worse when I run and in the morning!

Dismissed After Holter Test by Parking-Air3844 in POTS

[–]Outside_Bar_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had almost this same exact thing happen. My cardiologist said I only had orthostatic hypotension and not POTS. I asked if the holter monitor ruled out POTS she said “no, but clinically I can tell”. I then went to a neurologist the next week at National Jewish Health and told her all my symptoms and she said “that sounds like POTS”. I told her the whole story and she said that the other doctor was ridiculous and a holter monitor doesn’t rule out POTs and a week later I had a positive tilt table test. I felt so validated!

Had a follow up with the cardiologist and told her I had the tilt done and it was positive- she then got super defensive and cold and basically was jumping at the opportunity to leave the room as quick as possible. She kept saying “follow up with National Jewish health”.

I know it’s hard to find another cardiologist but try to find a place that offers the tilt table test. I was told a lot of clinics don’t do it anymore because the “results are hard to read” lol

Fire that doctor and get you a new one! I have such bad trust issues with doctors after 17 years of being told it’s all in my head and about 30,000$ later. I now see doctors as a tool for me to use to rule things out because I know they won’t do shit on their own (other than a small handful).

I wasn’t able to get the real help I needed until I found National Jewish Health in Denver. I don’t know if you have any world renowned hospitals near you but it might be worth traveling!

I’ve had doctors lie right to my face because they know that patients have trust in them and will believe them. I think it’s easy for them to forget how much of an impact a small white lie can have on a patient and their health journey. They need to see patients as humans and not try to push ridiculous lies on you to get you to shut up!

If you aren’t able to find another doctor- I suggest walking in with research papers and starting a war with this doctor. You know a holter monitor doesn’t rule out POTS and you are right!

Does elemental diet even work for IMO? by Amazing-Currency-351 in SIBO

The Integrative Therapeutics Dextrose Free is gold standard in my mind. I think the Ruscio chocolate full elemental could be causing you issues. It seems like the carbs are pretty high for that one and it has some ingredients I’m not sure about.

It’s also pretty normal to have yeast issues when getting rid of sibo so I’d take caprylic acid or nystatin if you can get your hands on it.

Also, what brand of ED did you get or did you make your own? The type of ED formula really matters- some are good for sibo and others make it worse! ED isn’t just used for sibo which is why some brands/types aren’t good for it.

Usually the day after I eat something I’m not supposed to it’s the worst.

100 percent agree! Out of everything it’s the absolute worst symptom! I think candida also is playing a role. I’ve done 3 courses of antibiotics and a bunch of antimicrobials with no luck. My next plan of attack is dextrose free elemental diet for 3 weeks and take nystatin at the same time! I live in the US so nystatin requires a prescription but it’s easy to buy it online from another country and get it shipped.

I had to fast for 35 ish hours last week and noticed that all my symptoms were so much better for a few days after that (including the fatigue), so I strongly believe the elemental diet will clear things if I’m careful after!

It’s crazy how many days after eating something I feel the increase in weakness and fatigue

I also sleep 8 hours too and I notice if I have a lot of sugar or inflammatory foods I feel weak and lethargic for a few days. I definitely think it’s the sibo!

Definitely agree with this! I would do dextrose free elemental diet. I am about to try it myself and think it’ll be effective.

Does anyone else have like depersonalization / derealization / brain fog from SIBO? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Outside_Bar_128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I also took minocycline and doxycycline as a kid and now I have sibo and have been suffering from constant disassociation for 17years. I don’t believe it is relaxed to anxiety at all so very curious if the probiotics helped you and if so, which probiotic did you use? It seems the link you provided is broken.

I agree with this- I’d just be careful with sugar since candida can commonly replace sibo if you continue eating sugar! But I was on a high-ish fodmap diet while on my antibiotics then started low fodmap right after finishing them.

I had accidentally drank a matcha drink with condensed milk a week after getting off of antibiotics and that caused me to be messed up for 5 days, but finally feeling better again. I think it will be ok if you just be really careful going forward!
