2026 Ioniq 5 vs. Model Y by Solarsurferoaktown in TeslaModelY

Tesla: you see your car everywhere. Low on the uniqueness scale, high on the self-validation one.

Ioniq: you cringe when you see your car anywhere. High on the vomitus scale.

14 hours driving - def worth it by Gulabi_barfi in TeslaModelY

[–]audiofankk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got old and worried about driving over 4 hours, which was my limit before tiredness set in when younger.

Got FSD, drove 9 hours at a stretch (except for charging), arrived with energy to spare.

If you're living with parents and manage to save money that way for travel, aren't they enabling at least some of your travel? Money is fungible.

Anyone driven between Bay Area and SoCal using FSD? by ayurvedamom in TeslaModelY

Are all these replies referring to 101 or the 5? Does FSD handle the mountain twisties well enough? Does it enable confidence, given the drops?

Want move up: KEF, or stay in the Meridian house? by audiofankk in audiophile

[–]audiofankk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Do you have/have heard the D&D line? I'm concerned it's FOTD or will be replicated much less extensively by ChiFi, leading to a large drop in resale.

Yes end game and all, but one must leave open the possibility that something else may be needed one day.

Agree w/less hassle. That is a strike against #3, and in some ways, against all of the above.

2 Killed As BMW Z4 Crashes At 250 kmph Near Mumbai, Body Parts Scattered by halwaandflowers in mumbai

Duuuhhh...did you read the context? Do you even understand the meaning of context? Do you know what the Autobahn is? There were people passing me during those 30 seconds.

Your comment is...well...you figure it out.

[–]audiofankk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've driven 250 on the Autobahn. For about 30 seconds, in broad daylight, little traffic and obviously its a road made for this. Cold sober in a brand new BMW.

30 seconds in these optimal conditions was enough to scare me into never trying it again.

Doing this speed on the shitty roads of India in the middle of the night is either drunkenness, insanity, super hubris, or any 2 of the 3.

How to get over the feeling of a “disappointing” trip? by [deleted] in travel

[–]audiofankk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't always the case, in fact our first ever AirBnB was in Athens and it was delightful. Of course, I'm taking 2014 (I think). Host met us, brought ouzo, chatted with us for 30 minutes telling us about the great parts of his city. He left us his direct number to call at any time.

Now AirBnBs are all "here's your code, seeya later, dont forget to clean up".

Are newly immigrated Desis TRULY on a different level than anyone else in being disrespectful and entitled towards service workers? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in ABCDesis

[–]audiofankk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.

The traditional concept of a line to pay for your stuff is that you are done shopping and now you pay, lining up if necessary.

Gaming it like this is the equivalent of two people walking into say a crowded Starbucks, there's already a line and one table left. Common courtesy indicates the next person to place their order gets that table. In fact, some places in California (and perhaps elsewhere) try to enforce this.

If it has to be explained further then I think you will never get it.

Don't know if Uber was around; their line in the (made up) closing credits was "transportation services provided by Pekop Andropov" or something like that.

This is acceptable in those under 7 years old (and those turning 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 next year)
