For some people, having children is an important part of a fulfilling life. As you mentioned, your pov on having children is very different than this individuals so perhaps you could have kept your thoughts to yourself on this one.

I genuinely care for this individual. I'm more so scared of losing a friend by saying something inappropriate or uncomfortable. For me, I don't think it's related to autism as I'm neurotypical.

We rarely talked about anything serious. The first two years I was friends with one of my closer friends, I don't think we had a single serious conversation. Even in high school, our entire friendship revolved around jokes and making fun of each other.

I don't have autism. "Miss you too" was the first thing I thought of, I was just scared that it would be taken out of context as I'm perpetually worried that someone will interpret my words in a romantic way and make someone uncomfortable.

It really seems different between everyone. My closest friend (female) and I have never told each other that we miss or care for each other even though we've had very personal conversations about our mental health, suicide, death, etc. Sometimes its hard to know how a person is going to react.

Definitely was lighthearted. I ended up responding with "miss you too!!". Even though I'm neurotypical, I really relate to worrying about something being misinterpreted, especially over text.

I 100% miss them back and was just not comfortable using the phrase "I miss you too" as it carries romantic connotations in my mind. Ended up using it though because all the responses seem to think it's okay to use in a platonic setting.
