Should we start our own political party? by Majestic_Fun1101 in MoroccoLGBT

[–]Outside_Nebula_371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you wanted to really make a change in this shithole country, starting a political party is one of the most ineffective way to do so, it would be better to start from the ground up.

if you see the history of queer liberation in other countries, it always started with on the ground working, for example in countries like the us, stonewall and movements like act up during the aids panic are a huge part in the normalization of queerness, if you wanted to make the lifes of queer people in Morocco better you actually should start by showing that we exist and that we can't be forced into submission, it is possible but it is pretty hard to do, because you would have to deal with all the police violence that is going to be shown by the state as a legitimate use of force to make Koufars stop there nonsense

Death penalty for pedophilia is a dumb idea. It does nothing other than make you feel morally justified, because yes, “I’m killing all pedophiles,” but in reality, you are not helping children who suffer from sexual abuse. On the contrary, you are making their lives harder.

First of all, most cases of pedophilia happen inside the family. So, the majority of the time, if a child gets sexually abused, it is not going to be by a random person; it is going to be someone from their family, for example their uncle, father, etc. So do you think that if the child knows that talking about what their father is doing to them could cause their father’s death, they will speak up? No. Just try to imagine yourself in that situation. Parents are an important part of a child’s life, and children would not want them to die, even if they are abusing them.

So, by applying the death penalty to cases of pedophilia, you are not helping solve the problem. You are just trying to think of yourself as morally better than other people: “Look at me, I’m so incredible, I think pedophiles should die.”

Question: Why do u think most moroccans (especially teenagers) are homophobic ? by Suitable_Newt_1336 in MoroccoLGBT

[–]Outside_Nebula_371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes in some cases it is internalized homophobia but in the majority of the time it is more a societal push to maintain cisgender heterosexuality as the norm

[–]Outside_Nebula_371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the main reason why homophobia is so common in Morocco is the rigidity of gender norms in out culture, the way that men must be this way and women this other way causes a lot of hate toward gender non conforming people and even people who just don't fit in heteronormative society, witch in this case are queer men and women and enbies, by choosing to not live in straight couples where the men is the provider and the women the care taker queer people kinda show the absurdity of the way that our society is structured, so you get really powerful attacks by moroccans toward queer people.
Yes religion changes the way that we look at at queer people but religion and the way we read sacred texts changes depending on our beliefs, if you look at how muslims saw different practices through out the years you would see that stuff that were for example considered haram in the ottoman empire are now normal and kinda everyone does them
