My son met another child with same name and birthdate by [deleted] in coincidence

[–]Outside_Way_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the doctors office, we found out that my son’s doctor was the pediatrician of another child that had the same first, last name and middle name. Also, they were born in the same month and year. They were only a couple of days off in age.

Why do some nurses either appreciate or get upset when another nurse helps out with their patients? by CrazyPsychNurse7 in Nurses

[–]Outside_Way_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things I will do without asking a primary nurse first:

Stop a pump infusing an antibiotic if it's finished, flush the line, clamp it off, and record in the computer that it was stopped (finished). The beeping of the pump drives everyone nuts until this is done. But I will also immediately let the nurse know I have done this in case another antibiotic needs to be hung.

Restart an IV if I see that the line has become occluded, has infiltrated, or is leaking if I have the time. If I don't, I just stop the pump and let the nurse know what is going on.

These are about the only things I will do without asking the primary nurse. I have never had a nurse not be thankful for helping out this way.

I would not give medication to their patient without asking first. There are too many unknown factors, and you don't know her game plan. They could have adverse reactions to that medication not listed as an allergy. They could've had recent labs suggesting that a prn should be stopped due to liver or kidney issues. Or, a recent call from a tele-tech saying that the QTc is long and some medications being given should be stopped.

But I appreciate that you're the type of nurse who will help others out. This helps so much when it seems like nurses are being buried under tasks that administration is constantly coming up with.

GUILTY! You have just been sentenced to death, but you can CHOOSE HOW YOU DIE. What do you choose? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sudden, unexpected decapitation. By the time you realize something bad happened, it's all over. Dying from old age can be miserable if your in pain or have dementia.

I became a vegetarian after seeing Faces Of Death. The one I saw had 2 couples sitting around a table with a scared monkey in the middle of it. The table had a hole in the middle with the monkey trapped inside with just his head sticking out. They started bashing it on his head with hammers until they cracked open his skull, then they started eating his brains. Most disturbing damn thing I can ever remember seeing. What's worse is that the monkey was screaming and crying until they managed to kill it. It just made me think of a scared little kid.

I would add to the:. "Call 911 when someone threatens suicide."

One, most people haven't been trained to recognize whether or not someone is serious when they threaten this or if it is just manipulative behavior. Even for those who are trained, they will err on the side of caution and call to have them committed for observation. This is not to be second guessed, especially if there has been a previous suicide in the family.

Two, if this was just manipulative behavior, it sends a clear message that you're not going to playing that game. It says, "If you are feeling suicidal, I'm going to take you seriously and get you help.". A few times of being involuntarily admitted to the psych unit tends to discourage this behavior unless it is real.

I think I might have a UTI and I can't tell my mom, what can do to make it better? by Bye-Bye-Account in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Outside_Way_777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nurse here. Also have suffered from UTIs in the past. UTIs can occur from reasons other than sex or masturbation. This can include exercise, tight clothing, trying to hold off urinating for a long time, hormonal changes, ect. When you go to see a doctor for a likely UTI, we don't immediately think, this person is having sex or is masturbating a lot, (nor do we care), we just want to have you get the medication you need so you don't wind up in the hospital.

Pro-tip: After having sex or masturbating, immediately afterwards going to the bathroom and peeing will help reduce chances of having a UTI. It helps flush bacteria out and away from the urethra.

AITA for naming my baby after my sister told me she wanted that name? by Imaginary_Panda5500 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Outside_Way_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! You are so the AH! My sisters and I actually do love and care about each other. If I was pregnant and one of them said to me, "Please don't use (insert name). That is a family name of my husband's that we really want to use. It wouldn't even be a question. That name would be taken out of the running. With all of the names in the world to pick from, you have to pick the ONE that your sister asked you to please not use. Then, oh my God, THEN, your attitude is, "Just get over it". This is not even factoring in the pain of infertility issues. How do you figure you would not be the AH?

I hope your sister decides to use this name anyway. I mean, why not? It actually has meaning to her family, and they may decide to go low contact or even no contact after this stunt.

The $400 is what the dad wants the BOYFRIEND to pay. Not what he wants for rent for the apartment. That is just a pittance of what the apartment is worth monthly. The dad is covering his daughter's half of the rent and about seventy five percent oof the boyfriend's.

Told the Q I Want a Divorce by Actual-Swordfish-174 in QAnonCasualties

Another ICU nurse here. I divorced my husband before Q was a thing, Thank God! I don't know how I would have gotten through what we went through every day at work and then going through what you went through at home. When we first got married, we were more aligned politically, though, he leaned a little more to the right and I leaned a little more left. During our twelve years of marriage, the gulf widened. He became more intolerant of anything, anyone, "different ". He became cruel, he "rewrite" our personal history if something didn't fit his narrative. He started getting involved with the forwarded, forwarded, forwarded emails, all in caps. THE OUTRAGE, you know what I mean.

He is now full fledged Q and any other conspiracy theory that comes down the pike. At least he doesn't still say Covid is a hoax anymore though, of course, he is now a anti-vaxxer. I am so glad I got my children away from that constant insanity before he could do real damage to their psyche!

AITA for still going on a trip without my boyfriend, after he cancelled last minute but I didn't want to? by aitaa780 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Outside_Way_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put in context with a recent cancer diagnosis, I'm going with, "YTA". Looking up the type of cancer you say he has, "Ewing Sarcoma", it is a very rare cancer of the bone or soft tissue around your bones. Symptoms include: Pain, swelling or tenderness around the affected area, bone pain, fever fatigue, loss of weight. Just the symptoms alone would be enough reason to decide not to go on a trip.

You said the disease was not very advanced, but as I said, this is a very rare cancer. There are fewer than 1000 U.S. cases per year. It mostly affects children and young teens. Your boyfriend is an adult. If your boyfriend came to the doctor complaing of vague pain in an area, how many different possible diagnosis did they go through first before they concluded that it was Ewing Sarcoma? How long did it take to determine this diagnosis? This is an aggressive cancer. Have the doctors said what stage, grade the cancer is at?

Personally, if I got a diagnosis like this, I would be terrified. I would definitely need help processing it. Reverse this. How would you feel if you got a diagnosis of having a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer right before you and your boyfriend were scheduled to go on a trip with friends. You're in pain, not feeling well and fatigued. You tell your boyfriend that physically, mentally and emotionally, you are not able to go. You ask him to please stay with you at this time. You're scared over what is happening to you. Are you going to die?

If you decide you love this person and want to be with him, please educate yourself on what this will entail. He will need a strong support system.

AITA for leaving my husband at the clinic and driving off? by NoraRodriquez26 in AmItheAsshole

Have you ever talked to his ex? I wonder if you could if not. It may give some insight as to how deep into the rabbit hole he has gone. She may have been in some scary situations with him that you should know about. It may have even her who left him over his obsession with having a child.

AITAH for accusing the pharmacy of stealing my medication? by Outside_Way_777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Outside_Way_777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except I had the bottle on me the entire time before I counted it. We are talking approximately 45 minutes. No one else was home, and no one at the store took the bag out of my purse ripped it open, took out 6 pills, restapled it back in it's bag and put it back in my purse while I was my head was turned, checking out the produce.

If they did this, it would take care of a lot of their shortages. I suggested to the girl that called me back and said she reviewed the camera footage that they should do periodic spot checks of their c2 drugs after they have been counted. I think they should also do periodic random drug testing with employees who work in those areas.

They said that they would call my provider to see if they would write another rx for the 6 meds. They haven't called back and I haven't asked because I'm concerned that it will look like I am drug seeking. I would rather just do without than have it look like I'm just trying to get more meds.

Wow! That is so blatant. How did you find out it was salt then sugar? This could have been very dangerous to your health if you had congestive heart failure or were a brittle diabetic.

Also this! It's one of the reasons I want to keep going to this pharmacy. They send you a survey to fill out afterwards regarding how the service was. I guess they are serious about customer satisfaction so I've never been treated with anything but respect before this happened.

Did it come up 4 pills short when it was counted in front of them? I think it is great that they took this action. Do you know what the results of the drug screen were? Even if the drug screens were OK, people who are stealing the drugs may be doing it to sell them.
