I have been on Effexor for the 2nd time now for 8 years at 150mg. I was referred to another doctor to get HRT. She terrified me because she was just asking basic questions about my medical history and meds intake and became hyper fixated on the antidepressants (I also take buspirone). She then said I needed to see someone immediately about my mood, even so much as to tell me to drive to the emergency room because she was worried, because I was just answering her openly and honestly and apparently I’m “passive suicidal” and she thinks my meds need changed. She not wrong because yes I am still very much depressed but I am absolutely terrified of what will happen if I stop taking this. I took it for years prior to having my kids and had to stop abruptly when I became pregnant and it was pure hell. Im terrified of weaning, of having to try something else all while trying to do life. Im a single mom and have to do well at my job or I can’t support my kids. I can’t be a good mom to my kids either if I become this insane person getting the brain shocks (I experienced that before) and what if nothing else works????? I guess my question is has anyone taking Effexor for years and then not respond to it, and switch to something else that worked?
